Great television

Review Date: July 24, 2010
Reviewer: robtk14,
This is an amazing TV. My first LED-TV and the picture quality seems perfect. Great colors and blacks are, well, black. Haven't gotten around to test with top quality video games, but everything looks superb so far. The TV is also extremely thin and light.

The only complaint I would have about it is that there is no S-video input. I'm not going to dock the TV for it's sound because you don't buy a TV for the sound quality, you buy a TV for the picture. It kills me when people will criticize it simply because the TV speakers don't sound like surround sound, get real.

I have it hooked up to my PC (HDMI to DVI cable) with the audio going from my PC to external speakers I have for watching movies from my PC. I still can't figure out how to get sound from my PC to play on the TV speakers because the TV separates sound/video source DVI/3.5mm stereo input from the HDMI input (from what I can tell so far). That's why it may be smarter to go with just a straight up DVI cable if you want to play the sound from your PC to the TV speakers. One of these days I'll invest in surround speakers and receiver to make the set up easier to manage.
The best

Love this TV. Very slim, great picture, very smart technology. Gorgeous design. Just bought a second one for my bedroom. Would not buy any other TV.
Good TV - Samsung was not ready to support

Review Date: April 3, 2010
Reviewer: John Robert Hight, St Petersburg, FL United States
We purchased this TV as soon as the 2010 models were available.

The Amazon purchasing experience was what we have come to expect: easy, with delivery as expected.

We had problems out of the box that were not related to the TV itself, but rather related to our cable provider, Brighthouse Networks. In attempting to resolve the issue, I first called Samsung on about March 11, 2010. The Samsung folks were unable to identify the model based upon the information I gave them from the label on the back of the TV. Finally, I was told that Samsung representatives had not yet been provided with any information on the new 2010 models. They were unable to help me at all. I was told that someone would call me back before the end of the month (Remember, this was March 11, so Samsung was are promising to call be back within three weeks!). I find it strange indeed that Samsung would begin delivery of products they are not prepared to support.

That said, the problem was eventually diagnosed by Brighthouse and was related to their system not to the TV itself. The TV has a fantastic, almost unbelievable picture. Other than the fact that the speakers are marginal, I have not discovered anything I do not like about the TV. I'll have to hook it up to play through my receiver, but given the thickness of the TV and the limited space for speakers within the unit itself, it's hard to believe the sound is as good as it is.

This is a great product. Hopefully in future years Samsung with have the sense not to sell new products before they are ready to support them.
Perfect TV except for Media Player

Reviewer: D. Bobo, Washington, DC Area
I've had the TV for a few weeks now and love the picture. Its crisp with the right amount of saturation and amazingly lit. However, I am not satisfied with the media player feature. It only sees a very limited type of video files (none from iTunes) and is not compatible with apple computers which I exclusively use.
Media Player does not support CJK Characters

Review Date: August 14, 2010
Reviewer: Kelvin,
This product is great so far. Excellent colors, super thin and great price.

My only gripe for the less than satisfactory media player - when I try to play mp3 or media files that have any character other than a ASCII character, say Chinese character, the name of the songs/videos does not display properly but appear as squares.

Outstanding Image Quality!

Review Date: April 6, 2010
Reviewer: Laercio Silva Jr., Brazil
I don't speak english enough for a review, so I'll resume my experience with this amazing tv.

Pros:

- The first good impression I had, was the very good built quality and the soft weight.
- The Design is very nice, the TV side is really slim and the color is a kind of black mate, beautiful.
- The image quality is really impressing.
- The stand is the best designed I have seen.
- Is so far better than my 1 year old Samsung LCD Series 7
- If you have a Xbox 360 you will see totally different the way to play games
- The allshare is one of the best functions on that tv, pictures, videos, music and everything you have on your computer you can see on TV.

Cons:

- No 3D (I know is not included on this model)
- No built in wi-fi, only wired internet (You have to buy the wi-fi adapter separately.)
- The internet apps is starting so no expect the apps you see on amazon page
- The allshare doesn't work with Mac

In resume i love it, I don't know if is because is my first LED tv, but it is everything I was expected from Samsung and is better so far, I'm using 2 weeks now, and I can't see movies o games again on my old TV.

::::UPDATE:: 04/19/2010

I'm updating that review to share how I have improved my experience with that TV!

CALIBRATION FOR XBOX 360

With game mode turned on, you won't get the best from this TV.
This adjust is so far better than using "Game Mode", you will get the best image on Xbox 360 after the TV is turned on for 20 minutes.

Beautiful Picture

Review Date: June 15, 2010
Reviewer: J. Karren,
I bought this tv (46' inch, LED) at Amazon.com as I moved into my first home. I wanted the best tv I could find (without buying a 3D TV). I lucked out when this tv went on sale ($1,889 with $400 back in Amazon gift cards, net $1,489). I am hanging it on the wall and it looks spectacular. The colors are so true and the picture so crisp that people are amazed at what they see. The 120 mHz really changes how you watch shows although I have had some negative feedback from that standpoint. Some have said it makes all shows look like soap operas, although I think it's an improvement from the former 60 mHz tv's.

One other negative, if you turn the lights down in the room the tv actually adjusts to this and darkens the tv, something that I did not like during the NBA Finals. If you have a very dark room you might want to think about another tv, although maybe you can change the presets to offset this (I have not fiddled with these yet).

All in all it's an amazing tv and one well worth the money and I would definitely tell my friends to buy the same.
Excellent television!

Reviewer: chesterjesse,
We did lots of research before finally deciding on this particular tv, and we could not be happier with our selection. The picture quality is outstanding. We are very happy with the LED edge lighting. It has a sensor to determine ambient light and adjusts the strength of the backlight accordingly, which should save a lot of electricity over the lifespan of the tv. The sound quality is decent, though I expect we'll be investing in a Surround Sound home theater system in the near future. Setup was very easy. All user interfaces are very intuitive. The user is able to make many, many adjustments to the picture, though to be honest we were anxious about messing things up so we left everything on the "Home" default setting. This tv integrated flawlessly with our Samsung Blu-Ray player allowing everything to be controlled with the tv remote. We also love that this tv is networked-- we use the Netflix and Pandora apps on a daily basis.

A major selling point of this tv for us was the aesthetics of the very slim design, and we were not disappointed. This unit is THIN! The graphite-colored frame around the LCD screen is also quite narrow, and a thin, clear acrylic band runs around the entire frame-- a classy touch that does not show up well in photos of the unit. We also are very happy with the stand. Its chromed X shape is different than most stands which are a flat black plastic pedestal, and we are very pleased with the way it looks.

Overall, an excellent tv, and we highly recommend it.

A note on the service from Amazon.com: We were initially a little reluctant to make such a large purchase from an online retailer. And our fears almost came true... the first unit shipped to us had a factory defect (the tv would forget all settings every time we turned it off, requiring us to go through the Plug-and-Play menu and channel scan every time we turned on the set... irritating! Samsung tech support was stumped by the problem, though they did offer to send a repairman out to take a look at it, which would be covered by the 1 year factory warranty). We declined Samsung's offer of the repairman, and called amazon.com customer support instead. They instantly recognized the problem, apologized for the inconvenience, and shipped a new set to us immediately. The delivery man dropped off the replacement set and took away the defective one at the same time. The new tv works great, and our customer experience with amazon could not have been any more positive!
I love this TV!!!!!!!!!

I just purchased this TV today from BB. It replaced a 4 year panasonic plasma that I sold to a friend. Even though the colors are not quite as rich as the plasma, I love this TV. I really went back and forth between a new plasma and this TV and I am glad that I chose this model. The picture is so clear and the black levels are fine, they have several settings if you want them darker. Yes their are the usual uniformity issues but they are so slight and minor, it really is not that bad. Alot of people don't like the crows feet stand; I love it!! I love the the way it swivels and just the look of it. I can't believe I have a 46 inch TV in my bedroom. I never could have fit this in years ago. Once again, coming from a plasma, I am very pleased with this TV.
My First HDTV

Review Date: July 30, 2010
Reviewer: Ryan Grimsley,
I do not have a whole lot of experience with HDTV's, so I can only review this TV from a first-timer's perspective. First of all, I love it. It's crazy thin and looks very sexy on my TV stand. However, pretty much anything would have looked better than my old 27" box TV that I upgraded from. I was originally going to go with an LCD, but I could not pass up Amazon's amazing deal they had with this TV, and I wanted to get something I was going to be satisfied with for a long time.

Here's what I like:

-I thought the four-legged stand the TV comes with looked a little iffy in the pictures, but now that I have the TV, I am very satisfied with it. I don't think this TV is going to be tipping over...ever. It seems more stable than the rectangular-bottomed stand my father-in-law's LCD TV came with.

-46" is huge. There's about 8 feet or so between my couch and the TV. However, now that I'm getting used to it (remember, I upgraded from 27"), I think this was the perfect size. I may have been left wanting more if I had gotten smaller. Any bigger and it would have been difficult to watch movies and play FPS's on my 360. My stand is 55" long and the TV fits perfectly on it. There's just the right amount of space on each side of the TV.

-The picture is BEAUTIFUL. The blacks are BLACK. If the TV goes black, I can't tell if it's on or off. I am very impressed with the picture and the amount of detail I'm getting. I have it hooked up to an OLD antenna, and it still picks up channels in HD - and they look great! However, my wife isn't loving the fact that now we can see everyone's sweaty, pimply face. It really is almost like looking through a window. The picture is VERY bright. Cartoons look very cool. The colors pop. I love it.

-Xbox looks awesome. I have it hooked up with HDMI. I can finally read the writing in Mass Effect 2, hurray! No more squinting! Everything is so crisp. I don't know how I played games before on my old TV. I notice so many more details now.

-Blu Ray looks spectacular also. I have watched 300 and The Hangover. Both looked very, very good. I've noticed now when I watch movies, I don't pay as much attention to the story, but rather, pay more attention to all the detail I could never see with my old TV.

-Amazon free delivery was awesome. The delivery guy brought it in and did most of the work unpacking it and putting it on the stand for me. I just helped lift it up. He checked it and made sure there were no issues before he had me sign for it.

And now, the other stuff about the TV:

First of all, TURN OFF THE ECO SENSOR THING. When the room becomes dark it dims itself to a very dark level. It's lame. You don't want that on. I'm glad I can turn it off, so no big complaints.

The screen is pretty glossy and dust likes to attach to it. I need to invest in a electrostatic duster or something. You don't want a window pointing at this in the daytime, or else you'll see some big-time glare. Luckily, I don't so I don't have any issues watching at day or night.

I was unsuccessful connecting to the internet with the Samsung wireless adapter. However, I'm not a huge fan of my internet provider, so I'm not blaming it on the TV yet. I've only tried once. I was able to get the Blu Ray player connected with no issues though. The wireless adapter is kind of fat, so if you are going to mount with that sweet looking low-profile mount, it may not work so well with the adapter attached.

Playing the bright Toy Story 3 game had a lot of choppiness. However, when I turned the game mode on, the choppiness went away for the most part. I did not get any choppiness with Left 4 Dead 2 with the game mode on. I haven't tried with it off yet. I want to though, since I hear game mode can effect the picture quality.

GREAT HD TV, GREAT PRICE.

I got the tv a couple of weeks ago and after doing alot research and trying to pick between samsung, sony or LG, i decided to go with the samsung since my previous tv set was samsung. I am glad I chose the samsung the tv is very slim, light and the picture quality amazing that's all I can say. my bluray dvds look amazing and when I play videos from my hard drive the picture is great, I have never seen such a beautiful picture quality, even when i watch regular programing from my cable tv it looks great. If you are thinking about purchasing a LED TV look no further is the one you want and for the price I got it is a Steal. I paid less than 1400 here in amazon. I highly recommend this TV set.

Reviewer: ReggieRice,
I received my TV about 3 weeks ago. I wanted a little time to settle in with it before i wrote a review.

I've read just about every review out there for this specific TV on multiple websites before i purchased and can say i only agree with the positive one.

I chose Amazon b/c they were a couple hundred dollars cheaper and i have always had good luck. Pilot delivered the TV on time and in one piece.

I am moving up from a 32 in. Samsung LCD so i was a pretty big jump in quality. I mounted the TV with the Samsung slim mount that actually gave me the most problems.(mostly my mechanical errors though) The TV sits as flat as possible along the wall making it look like a painting.

Picture:
Just amazing!! I hear about the "soap opera effect" which did come into play. Some movies looked so real you could tell the sets were fake.(duh) But after a week i have gotten used to it and can't believe how great the picture is.(especially for sports) Blacks are such a deep black when i watch TV at night it almost feels like there is no border if it is in widescreen and cuts off some picture.

Sound:
I know a lot of people complained about the sound. I live in a loft with large ceilings and i was impressed. I actually sold my receiver and speakers because the sound was so good. I'm not saying it is perfect for every situation but as far as TV speakers go i love them.

Samsung Apps:
This is the only complaint i have. Some people may find these useful or fun but they are just boring. Youtube and Netflix are nice but i have them on everything else. My phone, xbox, laptop etc. There just isn't anything on there that makes it exciting at all. Kinda wish i would have purchased a model down to save some money but am very happy over all with my purchase!!
Great Picture quality

First time LED/LCD owner - so,blown away by picture quality.
TV seems good, except the stand, which is not stylish.
Guess because of thinness of TV,such a stand was devised.
Blu-ray,DVDs appear great.
Didnt like Movie mode much - so keep mine in Natural mode mostly - dynamic is also good.
Sound is also pretty good.
Didn't try all internet options yet - you tube picture quality is not good, probably because of 46" size - not sure. Didn't try Netflix etc yet.
Standard definition plays good too.

So,overall happy with the TV.
Best TV watching ever!!

Nice TV...with a few subtle issues

Reviewer: James, Peoria, Illinois
My first impression of this set is that it has good picture quality but rather poor sound. I did not expect much from the set in terms of sound due to its thin design. It should be noted that the 6400 is the same TV but without the Samsung Apps/Internet@TV feature and a different stand. I will say that I could certainly live without the Apps feature but it is nice to be able to stream my photos from Flickr without having to hook up my laptop or other computer. Weather is nice too. I also am not real excited about the stand. The 6400 has a square flat stand that you could place on top of a set top box or a small stand. The 6500 has a 4 footed prong type stand.

As far as TV performance, I will say that it is quite good. Colors aren't over saturated so as to look artificial. You may find that the box stores crank the brightness up in the store so the TV looks more appealing to shoppers. I found that many sets don't look nearly as good as they did on the ultra bright mode. This set however performs just as well in my preferred dimmer setting as it does bright. There are some annoyances such as pixelization and blotches in the dark scenes where there is motion. However, its hard to tell whether this is a by-product of broadcast companies, cable companies, and satellite companies compressing the heck out of HD signals or the TV itself. The TV performs admirably as well in standard definition broadcasts. LED vs LCD: well, if we are comparing apples to apples (using the same class of TV and same broadcast) I can't really tell that big of a difference. Longevity of the LED lighting technology is yet to be determined. I have no interest in a 3D set so I cannot compare this set to those as I never given them much more than a glance at the store. I will warn you, Samsung does have its customer service annoyances but hopefully you will never need them. I chose the 6500 with the Samsung Apps feature because I figured one day as more companies come on board with their apps there may be something useful. All in all it's no Pioneer Elite Kuro but its a good set for the price.
Expectations Run High

Review Date: July 27, 2010
Reviewer: Christopher Deweese, Kansas City
When you spend $1500 on a piece of technology you have certain assumptions and expectations about it. You do your research the best you can and hope that your purchase will be everything you hoped it would be. Occasionally, you are thrown for a loop and presented with some challenges that you didn't anticipate. That's what happened to me when I picked up this excellent TV. My old Sony LCD did not have HDMI ports, so I was relegated to the spaghetti bowl of component hookups to achieve high definition. I just had to have a TV with HDMI, so when I was finally in the market I knew it would have to be at least 46", LCD or something comparable, full 1080p, and have plenty of HDMI ports on it. With the exception of one small issue, this TV is everything I wanted.

I must say that the Samsung UN46C6500 LED TV is astonishing to look at. The colors are rich and saturated, black levels are the blackest I've ever seen, and the images are crisp and clear. The screen is a glossy finish, so it does reflect any light you might have in the room, but it's not overly distracting. The panel itself is super thin, only about one inch thick. The stand is very sturdy. Touch sensitive buttons line the lower right hand corner of the panel (kind of hard to see, but they're responsive). The bezel has a brushed matte charcoal grey strip covering a transparent acrylic (very elegant).

The one problem I have with this TV is not listed anywhere except inside the manual. I didn't see any other documentation or warnings about this, so I was a little disappointed when I encountered it. This TV is not compatible with HDMI versions older than 1.3. My old Onkyo receiver (TX-SR604) came with HDMI 1.1, so the TV would not display images through it. I had always thought that HDMI was backwards compatible. It's not on this TV, and the manual clearly says that if you have any components with HDMI versions older than 1.3 you may have issues with sound and video. Beware.

Because I was so disappointed that I would not be able to use HDMI through my receiver, I decided to upgrade to the Denon AVR-791 (which supports HDMI 1.4 and is 3D ready). Even though I'm another $500 poorer, I'm an extremely happy camper. Watching Avatar on blu-ray with this setup is truly amazing. The TV performs wonderfully and is otherwise exactly what I was wanting. I have not ventured into the internet TV features, but that's on the horizon. Unfortunately, the TV is not wifi compatible (unless you buy a USB adapter), so you'll need to use an ethernet cable (I actually knew this before buying).

Samsung makes incredible LCD and LED TV's. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a high definition viewing experience. Hopefully, my review will educate and warn those with older components. HDMI is the way to go, but you can always fall back on component cables if you have to. That just wasn't an option for me. When all is said and done, I don't regret my purchase at all. The end result was well worth the journey.

1) For the a price of $1389 along with Samsung HT-C5500 Blu-ray Home Theater System and Samsung WIS09ABGN LinkStick Wireless LAN Adapter, i felt its a good deal.

2) One major issue what i felt most inconvenient, is the remote. if remote would have got a touch screen it would have been better while using internet applications.

3) no screws were included for a wall mount fix. you have to buy them seperately.
look into the manual for the screw size.

4) The picture quality of was too good. i even read thru problems of led tv's, esp samsung in some of the forums. i could not able to find the same atleast in the tv what i bought. (its been only 3 days since i recd tv)

5) streaming of the netflix movies, youtube etc.... was good (on cable vision internet).

Overall i feel that its a very good deal what i got. and i give a 5 rating.
Good picture, very bad sound and other deficiencies

Reviewer: Yee Lee, Milpitas, CA United States
What's good: an excellent picture (good blacks, vivid though slightly unnatural colors), classy looking thin panel
What's bad: very poor sound (single back-firing speaker, not even stereo sound),highly reflective screen (glare problem), ugly and obstructive 4-footed stand, poorly designed remote control, WiFi setup buggy.

Had this TV for about a month, have not yet calibrated it with a HDTV calibration DVD but was able to eyeball adjust the brightness, contrast, and color settings to get a very pleasing picture. But no amount of playing with the audio settings could I get a decent sound. Dialogs all sound tinny, the best I could do was to cut the "10K" equalization setting down to minimum to reduce the "tinny-ness" of spoken words at the expense of getting much high frequency with music. Neither could I get any stereo effect out of the TV and playing with the "balance" audio setting made no difference in the sound. The reason became clear when I opened the back plate of the TV. The sound comes from a single 3" back-firing speaker, driven by a single pair of wires from the audio board. The 3" speaker is pancake flat, giving the cone little extension for producing the lower frequency sounds. A single pair of wires can produce only one channel of sound and my guess it's a mono channel. I cannot understand why the specification claims "10 Watts x 2 audio power stereo broadcast reception" when there is only one speaker.

The obvious solution is to get a sound bar or a home theater audio system to handle the audio. The Samsung sound bar sounds like a good bet, but here's where Samsung fails to provide an aesthetically pleasing solution. If the TV is not wall-mounted, the 4-footed stand prevents the sound bar from sitting right below the TV bezel. As much as the ToC decor is meant to help with the spouse factor, the sound bar addition will send one once again to the dog house. Samsung, Wake Up!!! If you can't make the sound bar look good with the TV, then you can at least try to provide decent stereo sound.

A few other issues with this TV and probably all Samsung LCD TV's. The highly reflective display surface creates a very distracting reflection if there is a light source directly opposite the screen; this is especially a problem when the scene has low light intensity. This TV is in our bedroom and the nightstand lights have to be turned off in order to watch a movie at night.

The remote control leaves a lot to be desired. Not only can it not control a Samsung DVD player, the ergonomics is far shy of other brands. Just try using the navigational and enter keys by feel without looking and you will get an exercise in frustration. Those keys are not sculpted to gives you any feel for which key you are pushing, and unlike other keys, they are not backlit, so when you are navigating the Samsung apps at night, you may have to turn on a light that you just turned off to avoid the screen glare problem. Samsung could learn a great deal by studying a Toshiba TV remote.

One other problem I encountered was in setting up the WiFi connection. The same Samsung WiFi USB adapter on the Samsung Blu-ray DVD player connected to my wireless router without any problem. Yet the same adapter failed to connect to the router when it's moved over to the TV. This is all done with the Samsung WiFi adapter on a USB extension cable that allows the adapter to be placed in exactly the same spot regardless of which device it was wired to. It took some playing around, but it finally got down to the fact that my router has SSID broadcast disabled. The DVD player software has no trouble with not seeing a broadcasted SSID whereas the TV's software wouldn't initialize to it even when all the proper information was entered in the setup procedure. When I turned on SSID broadcast, the TV connected to the router right away and the signal strength was excellent. Once I had the TV connected to the router, I was able to disable SSID broadcast and the TV now connects to the router without a problem; so the bug seems to be only in the software for initial connection.

Given all the deficiencies with this TV, as much as I liked the picture quality, I would not recommend this TV, especially at the price that has to be paid. There are TV's with equally good picture quality, much better sound, less glare and better remote control ergonomics.

Overall Good. Some Quarks.

Good: Overall this is a good TV. I'm not an expert on black levels, etc. But once we figured out how to overcome the "Soap Opera Effect" (hint: turn off auto motion plus in the picture options) then sitcoms and movies looked great! We also bought a Samsung Soundbar (HW-C450) and now the sound is also great.

Bad: We just have a regular antenna and the built-in converter is very bad. Often it says it has no signal when we get signal on the same antenna via a very cheap converter box.

Bad: We don't use the apps much since there isn't much there yet. The Yahoo! Widget is nice because it provides access to the Amazon digital download service but it is strange that it's a widget and not an app. Seems like Amazon should be an app.
Smearing/Ghosting effect that won't go away.

Reviewer: Patrick Denney,
I don't know if I got a TV with a faulty panel or not but I was seeing issues with extreme ghosting and smearing on images. Which was especially prevalent when watching any animated series. I'm usually not a picky guy but my wife started noticing it on everything too and the more we noticed it the more annoying it was. I tried every setting on the TV to get it to go away to no avail. I contacted Samsung tech support which was okay I guess. They contract it out and the service center where I live was 60+ miles away. The tech came out a few days later and played with the settings and told me he noticed the issues to. Then he wanted me to take a blu-ray to our local electronics shop and ask them to put it on so I could see if all Samsung panels had the same problem. This is my second Samsung TV with an issue (out of 3 I have purchased) so suffice to say I'm simply returning it and am going to give Sony a chance. Also, none of the internet apps maintain your picture settings. I have to watch all my Netflix movies in their "dynamic" color mode. No more Samsung TVs for me...

Great tv!!!!!!

Review Date: May 28, 2010
Reviewer: Trent A. Thompson, Fresno, CA
After reading reviews all over the net, I still went ahead and purchased 2 of these. I use them as computer monitors fyi. Yes there is some glare but not near as bad as what other people have experienced. I've got them in a bright open room near a couple windows too. Everything is crisp, bright and beautiful. Text is clear and movies are gorgeous. Maybe I'm not a visual snob but I found that the sets didn't need much adjustment to get to where I like. There are plenty of connections for my needs and the ambient light sensor is a nice touch. Only issue I've found are the light sensor gets a little twitchy in the morning as the sun comes up and the evening when it goes down. They go from bright to dim as the ambient light settles. Overall I would highly recommend this tv to anyone!
Fantastic Slim HDTV

Reviewer: Skyemint,
First off, I'd like to note that I used a 360 and PC with the TV.

Currently, it's the best-looking HDTV we have in the house. I've never seen my 360 games look or play this good. There is almost ZERO input lag when gaming. Colors are vivid, blacks are the darkest I've ever seen, and everything just kind of pops. I haven't tested the sound, although several reviews note the built-in speakers are terrible.

I don't use built-in speakers, so that wasn't an issue. If you're looking for a cheap THX sound experience, go for Klipsch 2.1 Computer speakers. The sound is as good as many home theater sound setups.

I haven't tested it with my PS3 yet but may update it with more info on that later. For those interested, here are the calibration settings I used which I found online:

Movie
Backlight: 7
Contrast: 95
Brightness: 45
Sharpness: 0
Color: 50
Tint G/R: 50/50

Black Tone: Off
Dynamic Contrast: Off
Shadow Detail: -2
Gamma: -1
Color Space: Auto
Flesh Tone: 0
Edge Enhancement: Off
Motion Plus: Off

Color Tone: Warm2
Screen Size: Screen Fit
Digital Noise Filter: Off
MPEG Noise Filter: Off
HDMI Black Level: Low

R-Offset: 25
G-Offset: 24
B-Offset: 25
R-Gain: 25
G-Gain: 23
B-Gain:24

If you're playing in a dimly lit room though, turn up the backlight setting.
I'm disappointed with you Samsung.

Reviewer: Paul A. Freeston, Tennessee
Okay first off let me say that I think Samsung does make some of THE best TVs out there. But this isn't one of them. I have been looking for a high quality TV to play games on and for movies for a while now. I got an e-mail from Amazon stating that the new 2010 models from Samsung were now available. I thought great timing since I just got some back-pay owed to me. I wanted a 32" TV since the room this was going into is not very big. I looked around the internet but there were no reviews yet, just the manufacture description. So I took the gamble and bought this one. I received the TV three days ago, and have been bummed since. Okay for the review. First impressions: Beautiful TV, I really like the styling and glossy finish. I actually laughed at how skinny the box was. Set up was not hard at all and they provide cable management to hide the cables from the back. THEN I turned it on. QUICK NOTE* It states that it "absorbs ambient light and virtually eliminates reflections", I say BS! It has the worse amount of reflection on any TV I have ever seen. My computer monitor sits on the opposite wall (about 14' away) and I can easily read text from it. When trying to watch the news, I couldn't see half the screen because of the reflection, it is that bad. If you know anything about HDTV, then you know that the Black Level is the number one factor in picture depth and quality. The black on this set is not black, though you'll probably only achieve that on a plasma, here it is a semi dark grey even after adjustment. Again disappointing since I saw a deeper black on their own 32" 360 series at Walmart that was about $500 cheaper too. Now for the biggest complaint, yes there's more, it is the amount of back-light bleed. The top corners have a grey fan shaped bleed that extend about 5" inwards, in the middle on the left half of the screen there are four large bleed throughs about 7" square each, and a 6" bleed in the middle of the right half of the screen. These bleed throughs or clouding is visible even in bright images. It makes the image wavy like. Also of note for you gamers out there, the Game Mode is ONLY available with HDMI. I have the older XBOX 360 so I use the Component cables which means no Game Mode for me. I also have the 360's PC VGA cable, but again no Game Mode and you with those you cannot adjust sharpness, color, or black level. I did find another review here on Amazon for the 55" model, same series, and it looks to have the same problems. As you can probably already guess, I will be returning this.

***Updated 3/24 -- Okay I decided to change the ranking from 2 stars to 4 stars in that I have since calmed down and knowing that it was just a bad panel. So for anyone interested in this set, please take the review with a grain of salt (I also decided to leave it up, instead of deleting it). Overlooking the bad panel part, here is a few impressions of the set. For one, it is a beautiful set, very dark and glossy. Though just know that the screen is very glossy, black mirror like, but in a light-controlled room it shouldn't be a problem. I didn't get a chance to view any blu-rays on this so I don't know its potential. I did watch a DVD through an XBOX 360 (Kung Fu Panda) using component cables and it looked fantastic, honestly the best I've seen it. Didn't get a chance to go online with XBOX Live, but I didn't see any lag in the games I did play. I also didn't get to calibrate the set (since I was returning it), but out of the box, colors were good, blacks were not ink black still, but fairly dark with good shadow detail. I also found that this IS edge-lit, but all of the literature kept saying LED Backlighting, If I known that I wouldn't have bought it since I personally don't really like edge-lit displays since they typically have uniformity issues and flash-lighting (looks like spot lights from the edges), though not all edge-lit displays have this. Hopefully If you decide to give it a try, you will get a better panel.
I'm super happy with the TV

Reviewer: SeeBeeKay,
I was at first torn between this Samsung, which is nice and thin but only 60 hertz, and other thicker sets in the same price range which are 120 hertz. I'm glad we decided on this thin Samsung. It is gorgeous, and for us the beauty of the TV set outweighs any subtle improvement in motion scenes obtained by 120 hertz.

I agree with previous reviewers that the screen is glossy, and you can see reflections under certain lighting conditions when the scene is dark. But this doesn't change the fact that the picture is beautiful. If we are trying to watch TV in the daytime, we sometimes have to pull the shades to avoid seeing the reflection of our windows on the TV screen. If you are worried about this, I suggest testing the area where the TV will be by placing a mirror there. Sit where you normally sit to watch TV and see if there is a reflection of a bright light source such as windows in the mirror. If so, you will probably have to eliminate the light in order to watch the TV without distraction. I'm not convinced other new TVs are much better on the reflection issue.

I don't agree that the screen causes motion sickness. Perhaps that reviewer had selected a setting that we didn't. In general, we left all enhancement settings off.

I am using the TV as a monitor for a recent model Mac Mini. In addition, we have a Playstation 3. Our receiver is old and does not accept HDMI, so we are using the Samsung TV to switch between HDMI sources, and using the optical out on the TV to get the sound to the receiver. This setup works great, and the TV makes a terrific computer monitor. However, make sure you turn off the Samsung TV's edge enhancement feature if using this as a computer monitor. Edge enhancement makes computer text and graphics look exceptionally bad, and it was a relief to discover that turning this feature off fixes the problem.

When we're watching news, the TV's speakers are great. When we watch a movie, we switch on the receiver for better sound.

It took a while to sort out how to get HDMI output from the mac mini. We first tried the Monoprice Mini Displayport Male and USB Male Audio to HDMI Female Converting Adapter, but the TV gave an error message and did not show a picture. We returned the Monoprice Mini Display Port and purchased the more expensive Kanex iAdapt 51 Mini DisplayPort to HDMI with 5.1 Channel Digital Audio, which works great but required rebooting the mac in order to get the correct resolution.

We don't use the Samsung's built-in tuner, so I can't review that. We watch using EyeTV for the Mac.

The user interface of the TV is easy to use. The remote is thoughtfully laid out, but the touch sensitive controls on the front of the TV are hard to operate because you have to get your face right next to them to see where to touch. On the other hand, the fact that you can't see these controls makes the TV more beautiful.

I wish Samsung had allowed users to program completely custom names for the sources. As it is, you can select from a preprogrammed group with names like "PC," "Game," etc. (I wanted "Mac Mini" and "Playstation 3"). Also, it would be nice to disable source inputs that you are not using, so that the TV will only switch between sources you are hooked up to. A feature like this would make it easier for guests and grandparents to operate the TV with minimal hassle.

I agree with another reviewer that the screw holes for the wall bracket are not the same as for most TVs, and if you want to use a full-motion mount you will have to spend some time finding the right screws at the hardware store. In our case, our wall mount had 100mm screw spacing, and the TV has 200mm screw spacing, so we purchased the LCD Adapter Plate. We purchased four M8 x 25 bolts with 1.25 pitch at our hardware store, plus four thick washers. We had to drill out the holes on the LCD Adapter Plate to accept the M8 size bolts (it was set up for M6), which was easy to do with a cordless drill and the right bit. We also used the four gray spacer sleeves that came with the TV, which prevented the Adapter Plate from blocking one of the TV's cooling vents. This setup took some work, but it looks and works great. It would have been nice if Samsung had either standardized the mounting holes or provided the necessary adapter hardware in the box.
Fantastic Display but with some Bleed Through

Reviewer: Kenneth F. Krutsch, Minneapolis, MN USA
Previous reviewers pretty much cover it: elegant physical packaging, very slim and easy to setup. I use only HDMI, so I cannot comment on setup with older connection types.

The good: with a bright, colorful image, the video quality is unbelievable. They aren't kidding when they advertise 3,000,000:1 contrast ration. It's a 32" display, so I haven't been bothered by the refresh rate - I personally haven't noticed any motion blur, even when playing PS3 games - Game Mode on or off. Simple to customize and integrates well with my Logitech Harmony remote (note: don't setup like a default Samsung TV - use the individual commands to access inputs from the menu of options).

The bad: the LCD / side-lit LED bleed took some getting used to. I played with the settings quite a bit to eliminate the fan-out of light from the corners - Movie mode works great - but it's very difficult to get a completely black background. I almost returned the unit, but after tweaking the settings, decided to keep it. To be honest, part of the reason I kept the TV was I saw someone else's new Vizio LCD unit; I quietly noticed right away how much more I liked the picture on the Samsung LED.

This is a great TV, but 4 stars because of the light bleed. However, I would definitely recommend this set to others.
Great off-angle viewing

This is my second Samsung HDTV. I have 55 inch and it's the Cats Pajamas so I when I needed a smaller screen, I went with Samsung again. This tv has an incredible picture. I must say that for an LCD screen, the off angle viewing is superb. The picture is still quite clear from the side, with hardly any noticeable dimming or fading. Maybe it's due to being LED lit.

I'm not a fan of 60hz tv's, but this one seems to do well. I use the "movie" mode (definitely gives the smoothest picture) and leave the edge enhancement off. Using these settings, the tv seems to work very well for fast motion scenes and live sports action. Not really any cons to this tv except that in order to connect it to your wireless router, you need to buy Samsung's wireless adapter separately. You can't use a generic one. Otherwise, no complaints.
MOTION SICKNESS+GLARE=NOT A HAPPY CAMPER

Review Date: April 30, 2010
Reviewer: NILEQUEEN, STL
IF I COULD STOMACH THIS MUCH GLARE I WOULD HAVE PURCHASED A PLASMA!!
I WAS NOT EXPECTING THIS FROM A LCD SCREEN.

FIRST, I WILL NOTE THAT I PURCHASED THE UN32C4000 LED, BUT TOOK IT BACK BECAUSE THE PICTURE WAS A BIT DISTORTED ON FAST MOVING SHOTS SUCH AS BASKETBALL AND FOOTBALL. IT WAS NOTICEABLE TO THE POINT OF NAUSEA-AND YES I CALIBRATED THE HECK OUT OF MY TV BEFORE I RETURNED IT. I REALLY WANTED TO KEEP IT! YOU COULD ACTUALLY SIT THERE AND WATCH THE MOTION DELAY CATCH UP TO ITSELF. I FOUND MYSELF STARING AT THE DELAY INSTEAD OF WATCHING THE ACTUAL PROGRAMMING-NOT COOL. I KEPT IT FOR ABOUT A WEEK TO SEE IF I COULD LIVE WITH IT AND JUST COULDN'T. DURING THIS TIME FRAME I DID MORE RESEARCH ON ALL THE SPECS(SINCE THE CUSTOMER REVIEWS WEREN'T IN YET) AND CAME ACROSS THE 5000 SERIES. I NOTICED THAT IT HAD A FEATURE CALLED LED MOTION PLUS. I FIGURED THAT MAY HELP WITH THE ACTION DELAY. IT REALLY DOESN'T.

I WILL ADMIT THAT I HAVE LIMITED ELECTRONICS KNOWLEDGE, BUT I BELIEVE THE REASON WHY THERE IS THIS DELAY IS BECAUSE SAMSUNG 32" LED'S ARE 60HZ AND NOT 120HZ? UNFORTUNATELY SAMSUNG DOESNT MAKE 120HZ YET IN THE 32" LED. AT LEAST I COULD NOT FIND ONE ANYWHERE, INCLUDING THEIR OWN WEBSITE!

AS FAR AS THE GLARE IS CONCERNED, IF THERE IS SOME SORT OF SCREEN FILTER/SHEET YOU CAN ADD TO CUT DOWN ON THE REFLECTION, I MAY KEEP IT. IF NOT BACK TO THE STORE WE GO...

FINAL NOTE...IF YOU PLAN ON MOUNTING THIS TV TO THE WALL(WITH FULL MOTION TILT AND SWIVEL), YOU WILL WANT TO KNOW THAT NONE OF THE STANDARD MOUNTS WILL ACCOMODATE IT. FOR WHATEVER REASON, SAMSUNG MADE THESE TV'S WITH NON-STANDARD 'M8' SCREWS AND THE MOUNT KITS IN THE STORES GO UP TO 'M6' HOLES (AGAIN THIS IS FOR FULL MOTION MOUNTS-IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR TILT ONLY MODELS YOU MAY BE IN LUCK.) I COULD NOT BELIEVE THIS SO I CALLED SAMSUNG TECH SUPPORT AND AND WAS SHOCKED WHEN HE TOLD ME THEY DO NOT HAVE MOUNTS TO SUPPORT FULL MOTION FOR THIS TV YET. YOU WOULD THINK THEY WOULD AT LEAST MAKE IT TO FIT INDUSTRY STANDARDS LIKE THE REST OF THEIR TV'S-BUT NOT THE CASE.

SOOOO, IF YOU ARE LIKE ME AND ARE HELL-BENT ON PUTTING THIS THING ON THE WALL WITH FULL MOTION, YOU WILL HAVE TO PURCHASE THE MOUNT AND DRILL THE HOLES BIGGER TO ACCOMMODATE THE M8 SCREWS.

I REALLY LIKE SAMSUNG TV'S OVERALL AND REALLY LIKE THIS NEW ULTRA-SLIM DESIGN, BUT BETWEEN THE MOTION SICKNESS AND THE GLARE I AM PUTTING UP WITH A LOT AND I DONT KNOW IF THIS ONE WILL BE A KEEPER EITHER. I MUST SAY OVERALL IM NOT A HAPPY CAMPER WITH THIS LED TECHNOLOGY FROM SAMSUNG THUS FAR...
the worst quality control

Review Date: June 20, 2010
Reviewer: S. Ahn, Palo Alto, CA
It does look like a high quality product. I'm using it as a big monitor for my mac mini and the pixels map quite well, not like cheaper Chinese brands.

However, mine was defective with buzzing noise from the behind that becomes louder when making the screen brighter and got unacceptably louder over 3 weeks. I returned mine and got a new unit, and am satisfied with my new one.

After a couple of week, I notice about one inch of blinking line on the left top corner, when connected to VGA. I've used a couple of LCD TV's connected to my computer before, mostly cheaper chinese brands. This is the worst quality control. I may get a better working unit if I try once more. But, who knows what new problems I'll get.

Great Thin LED-LCD TV

Review Date: May 21, 2010
Reviewer: James B. Wieser, Livermore, CA
Purchased this via Amazon.com and have now had for about a month. This is a great High Definition TV(my 3rd) especially where space is a limitation. The picture quality is excellent - very clear and the image nearly jumps off the screen. It is ultra sharp with little to no processing artifacts. I also have a Sony BRAVIA LCD 40" which is 2-3 years old but the picture is no where near as clear and free of artifacts as the Samsung 40" LED-LCD and the Samsung generates less hear - i.e. uses less power. Highly recommended in this screen size class.
Amazing difference

Reviewer: J. fox,
This TV blew me away when I first set it up (no tweaking). I turned on some random nature show (high def of course) and it nearly looked 3D. The color, clarity, and contrast were outstanding. And with my PS3/blue ray player movies have that theater like quality. Watching Avatar was actually better than the theater!! The only issue is the sound. However, if you are getting a TV like this you should be hooking it to surround sound!

Oh yea, even the low def channels look good.
Samsung 40" LED TV

The most incredible picture I have ever seen, with high definition fios cable and blu ray dvd as the sources. What is most remarkable about the picture on this TV is the night shots. Blacks are perfect. This TV is also very versatle, being able to connect with a computer via hdmi-dvi or by a wireless network along with 3 other hdmi connections, optical sound and components. My only complaint is with the speakers, which are necessarily small due the the 1" thickness of this TV and its small border. However, that is the trade off for such a thin tv.

This was a great value at Amazon. The best part about the purchase with that company was the free shipping, a free delivery, installation and setup.

This Samsung LED TV is the greatest, an outstanding television. My only complaint is that it took more than two weeks to arrive at my home after placing the order. Could have spent 100 bucks more and gotten it 11 days sooner from Best Buy. Worth the savings? Don't think so.

This is a great LED TV for the price. I was thinking about buying a LED TV as a replacement to my old LN630 and my budget was around 1000. So I didn't go for any high-end Samsung models. I am glad that I found this TV and bought this. The picture is crystal clear. It is working really well with my PS3 and Wii, and so far I don't have any issues.
If you are not looking for 3D capabilities, I would highly recommend this TV.

Mine is about 1 month old and the picture dims unexplainably some time...probably some power saving mode I dont know about yet..Anyway - great TV - highly recommend it!!!

I purchased this Samsung after returning a 2010 46" Sony EX500. Sony was always a standard in quality for me, but something has really gone amis in the past few years. The television just lacked the deep black levels and crisp whites that make an impressive picture. That aside, this model Samsung was a downgrade in screen size, but a big increase in quality.

The picture is amazing. Although there are some issues with extremely fast movement, creating "artifacts", the picture quality is superb. The LED back-lighting is new in my household, so we weren't sure what to expect. The blacks are inky, and the brights could sear eyeballs if you turn the brightness to maximum. Compared to the Sony, changing channels is super quick and the remote control feels lighter and has a more intuitive layout. What's interesting to me is that the picture this Samsung produces is much smoother than what I've witnessed on any other TV. Whatever the difference their video-processing provides, I like it. This may sounds strange, but if you stare at this Samsung, versus almost any other maker, you'll be able to recall more of what you saw in the picture. Maybe the picture is easier on your eyes, but in the end it "just works".

Don't expect everything to be perfect though. In extremely fast scenes, the "artifact" issues are noticeable. There is also a screen uniformity issue on my unit where the bottom right and left tend to bloom with light when the screen should be deep black and the LED back-light is on. (Dear Samsung: if you can fix my unit, I'll up my score from FOUR stars to FIVE).

Overall, I would recommend this television for consumers looking for a 3-5 year television investment. 3-D televisions are going to be the next big thing, but if you don't want to spend a fortune paying off 3-D TV makers development costs, this is the TV for you.
too sharp ?

after some research, I bought this samsung (non-3d, non-240hz) due to the ratings and seeing it at several retail outlets. the ratings had the biggest drawback being the price ( originally $1950 ? ), so as the price tumbled it seemed a good deal. I bought it for $1259+ nj tax from best buy; bought it online and picked it up( no shipping). what jumps out at you first is the plate glass front and the thinness--very stylish tho that's secondary to performance for me.

it was jarringly clear from the getgo, making ordinary shows like "The Tudors" look like they were filmed on videotape and not film or digital.

it was actually a little distracting and I had to turn down the clarity. the most amazing attribute is that on some shows it betrays the set lighting effects. you can detect the the keylight on actors faces.

my one gripe is that samsung has not as yet given purchasers any direction in customizing the settings and they NEED customization. it is left on the consumer to figure it out with no guidance about "jutter" or why the info box says 60hz when the specs say it should be 120hz.

the calibration websites have nothing on these models yet either and the danger is that they will skip over these models and focus on the new 3D sets coming out.

so after all that griping, I still wouldn't send it back despite it not being perfect, its 'imperfection" still leaves an amazing picture, can't wait to see how the NFL games look.
Nice TV

Reviewer: 1Rare1,
I waited all year for the price to fall on the Samsung LED models. I think the price was around $1800 when I first saw this model. I guess buying it for $995 was worth the wait! The TV looks good in our kitchen. I purchased the Ultra-Slim Low profile mount on monoprice.com. Don't waste your money on the Samsung Hanging kit. I initially purchased the kit for $227 but sent it back after I read the reviews for Monoprice's mounts. Also, use those guys for all your HDMI cables. I use them along with several friends. It is the only cables that CNET uses for testing their TV's. Way cheaper then Monster Cables! Don't get ripped off.

The picture looks great and offers the slick low profile we wanted. I still like my Samsung Plasma better. I can see subtle differences in the picture especially the off angle views. It doesn't look bad on this TV but, there is no doubt you need to be standing center or slighty off to get the best picture on the LED. That isn't a problem on the plasma. I adjusted a few settings after reading several recommendations on Amazon and Best Buy sites. The speakers work just fine for the ordinary person. I have our 50" plasma on surround sound. If you need a small TV like this one, that doesn't serve as the primary set, the speakers are fine. We are pleased so far.

I evaluated several models of Samsung and Sony but finally purchased this LED model. The price point was good but was surprised with the clarity and sharpness without over driving the gain levels. The only noteworthy issue is the sound quality. Probably common for digital TV but its too tinny and lacks bass and midrange outputs.

Good to Excellent, Significantly better than CCFL?

Review Date: September 16, 2009
Reviewer: Gregory L. Dauria, Connecticut USA
I originally ordered the Samsung LN40B650 and was fairly certain that I had made a good choice. I don't know why but I starting second guessing my decision, which led me to review the Samsung LED LCD televisions. While the reviews were not extremely glowing, the Samsung UN40B6000 looked like it could better the picture of the CCFL LN40B650 and I canceled the order for CCFL and went with the 6000 series LED television. One of the "cons" of the edge-placed LED televisions is a noted lack of screen uniformity but that is for larger screen sizes and I thought the 40 inch screen would not be as prone to that problem.

Some thoughts and observations:

1. The clear screen is very good - I have 3 windows, and a bright ceiling light; there are no reflection problems. In some of my earlier posted Amazon photos, a window reflection was evident on the screen, but not really noticeable in real-life viewing. I found, however, if I looked for the reflection, I could see it. I reshot the photos in lower light to better illustrate the performance of the UN40b6000. The first photo shows how good the screen image is when viewed directly on; this quality remains solid to 15 - 20 degrees of center. The image does lighten but I disagree that it rapidly deteriorates to poor quality even up to a viewing angle of 45 degrees; it's still a good image.
2. Out of the box the picture is good, but after using the settings recommended by CNET, with some slight personal adjustments, the picture for many Blu Ray pictures are as good as I've seen.
3. Despite the stated mega contrast ratio of 3,000,000:1, the gamma setting needed to be adjusted to at least +2 or +3 (highest) values to keep dark scenes properly contrasted. One interesting fact regarding the off-center viewing is that contrast for dark lit scenes actually improves.
4. The sound is NOT bad; the two UN40B6000 rear/downward firing speakers in custom mode produces respectable sound for a television set. Now, if you want theater-quality surround sound, then this TV is going to fall far short of such expectation, but what set would not? My suggestion is to go into sound mode; select custom, select graphic equalizer (set 100HZ to max; 300HZ to 3/4 range); set SRS Trusurround HD to "On" and give a listen. If you're still not happy, buy a sound bar.
5. The backlit remote is nice for nighttime viewing and is fairly user friendly.
6. The Samsung Blu Ray and UN40B6000 automatically recognize one another which may play a role in the exceptional picture that is produced.

The bottom line is that UN40B6000 produces a very good to excellent picture, and the sound is decent for a television set - is it worth the couple of hundred dollars more than its CCFL counterpart? I cannot say with certainty, but my hunch is that it is. However, where its performance may exceed say the LN40B650 is most likely limited to direct viewing +/- 20 degrees off center. After that the CCFL set may hold an advantage.

Update 9/25: I have read the reviews regarding limited viewing angles, but I have not noticed the dramatic degradation that has been observed by others. For comparison, I have placed 3 images under typical dark viewing conditions (note all camera settings are in static manual mode, no photo editing performed). The series of photos uploaded on Amazon do not come close to the actual picture on the screen in terms of quality, but they do demonstrate relative difference in picture color and contrast as the viewing angle is moved from center - please note photo placement captions. Overall, I am VERY happy with the UN40B6000 performance and have every intention of keeping it. The picture is outstanding when viewed directly, and may diminish with increased viewing angle, but it's more of an excellent to good, than a good to terrible. My wife keeps complaining that the picture is too good - that it's like watching a movie being made instead of viewing a movie - it does not make sense to me either.

UPDATE 1/22/10: In the comment section I was asked the set's height with stand. When I performed the required action by using a metal measuring tape positioned on the right side of the TV, the set went into store demo mode that displayed features of the TV - I needed Samsung technical support to get me out of the stored program. On the plus side - at 23:00, Friday night, I had a technician within minutes. Samsung did not understand why it happened but it did, and they directed me out of the program. FYI, I measured over the front buttons on the right side of the TV and I now believe the metal tape simultaneously contacted two buttons which initiated the store demo program - do not take a measurement in that fashion! If for some reason the store display comes on, from menu, go to "plug and play" and advance to section that has choices "store demo" or "home use" select "home use" to exit the program.

Reviewer: Winter,
We just upgraded from a 10yr old huge tube tv to this. Granted that anything would be awsome in comparison, the picture is fabulous, its very light, thin, and energy efficient. It is weird not having any buttons on the tv itself, but I can kind of see why. Since it is so thin, the wire placement in the back is a bit strange, or different I should say from the monster tube tv we had. We had to get a HMDI cable to go with it to connect our DVD player, but other then that, no other item was needed. If you are going to mount it on the wall, you will need to purchase that separately. Luckily the DVD player we had was new enough to be an upconvert to Hi-def.

The picture looks like you are standing next to the film crew as they are filming the show. It's very strange. Even Kungfu Panda looked more 3 dimensional if that is possible.

*UPDATED*

Well I purchased this two weeks ago from Best Buy and I have enjoyed it since then. I have now a better understanding to write a better review.

I like it's ultra slim design and its light weight. I didn't needed more help than little help from my wife to carry the whole package to the second floor. I did it alone to carry off of my minivan and I'm not a wrestler. I did assembled the stand in a few minutes very easily.

This is my first HDTV. I have been following HDTV technology for years but was until now that I was able to purchase it. I have watched a lot of TV's since 5 years ago in every store display with every combination of inputs and I think I can notice when a movie is Blue Ray connected through HDMI or composite video to when a TV set is connected trough other Video inputs and video sources (DVD).

I have my set connected to a Samsung BDP3600 Blue Ray, however I have not purchased any Blue Ray movie yet so I tested with a couple of DVDs and the image is excellent. I can't tell if is the TV or the BDP3600, but I see it like a Blue Ray movie. I can't wait to play a blue ray movie on my set. DVD's look gorgeous. *UPDATE: Computer Animated DVD's look gorgeous. I tried Harry Potter DVD and it is not the same video quality as Shrek II. Blue Ray movies seems very nice as expected, darker scenes seems grainy, I believe that is the ISO sensitivity of the film not an issue of the Blue Ray. If that is true new movies are going to be shotted with HDTV or higher area film, if I'm not wrong, most movies are 35mm film.

HDTV over the air (1080i) looks very nice and is pretty quick to change from HDTV channel to HDTV channel. I have satellite broadcast, however it does not offer HDTV signals :(.

*UPDATE. I have plug ed my USB thumb drive with a racing .mkv file and I was amazed of the quality of video I saw in this highly compressed file (3hrs in a 1.1GB file). All the scenes look very nice with vivid colors and very detailed even the fast moving scenes from on board cameras.

*UPDATE. I would have expected to read my Ethernet disk drive to play this videos, but is not able to connect a network shared drive. The blue ray player is able to do it, however is not able to play .mkv files. So I need to copy them to my thumb drive and play them directly on the TV.

*UPDATE. Infolink is good, but you are not able to select cities from other countries for weather update.

Unless other reviewers say not, mine has buttons, they are touch sensors discrete icons in front of the TV i.e. power button is beneath the SAMSUNG logo.

PROS:
- Excellent Picture
- Slim Design
- Light Weight
- Stylish Design
- Discrete Buttons (some owners might have not notice them)
*UPDATE - Ability to play a lot of audio and video formats including .mkv, video files.

CONS:
The only thing that I have discovered is that Picture in Picture can only be done with an HDMI input and Air. I have not been able to have PIP with Air and the analog A/V input from my satellite nor the satellite with the HDMI input. I have not installed the Ethernet and might a firmware upgrade solve this.

*** UPDATE ***
I did connect the set to my Ethernet, firmware upgrade was done and it didn't solve the PIP issue. There is also no way to swap the images of PIP. Not too much of a concern for me.

I'm pretty happy with my purchase.

I am the type of person who likes to buy good quality and keep it for a long time. But my many years old Sony was turning everyone and everything blue. Definitely a great TV for a Smurf or Blueman fanatic but not the best for general viewing. So out to look for a new TV.

I am not an electronics buff so exact specs etc. is not something I really wanted to study. Instead I opted to look for the TV that had the best visual picture.
And the Samsung TV has an outstanding picture. The color is vivid and rich and the depth perception is amazing. At some points you feel the characters are in the room with you. In addition the TV looks great from a straight on or side view. The quality of the anti blur makes watching fast paced sports very enjoyable.

Many of the TV's we looked at boasted a high quality picture, but we saw a huge difference when we stepped back from the screen. The color on this one just stood out.

In addition the TV offers a sleek design. It has a lustrous black finish that sets off the wide screen beautifully. The screen has just the right amount of reflectivity so you can easily view the picture without glare. At 40 inches this flat screen is large enough to give a movie type feel but not so large as to overwhelm an average size family room. Another big plus is the TV is more eco friendly then others.

After viewing the TV's in the store I was lucky to find it on Amazon where it was for a window of time around $1200 with free shipping and no tax. $300 less than if I had purchased it in the store. Since I know I will have this for many years it is an excellent value.

Set up was easy, it looks great in the room and we are really enjoying our new Samsung.

I did a lot of research on all the reviews before purchansing this tv. I have had no problems at all that some others had mentioned. Picture is incredible. The glare from various windows in the room is very minimal (you have to actually look for them to even notice it). Sound is actually much better than I had expected from some of the other reviews. At the time I ordered this tv, I went to other local stores to see if they could beat amazon's price. They actually told me I should order the tv from amazon at that price. They couldn't come close. I had found a steal! Zero complaints with this LED.

Reviewer: Steve,
I own 3 Samsung TV's and this is the only LED / LCD of the bunch. So, the question is, "Is it better than the other CCFL TV's?. Well, the answer is, "Yes, in almost every aspect." I also want to state that I like all of the TV's I have and they are all different. Keep in mind that there is no perfect TV, not even the top of the line plasma's.

These are the things that I like...

1. The black on this set is what I would consider "inky black". I have seen better, but not by much. With the lights in the room off, I can see that the black bars on wide screen pictures are not totally black, but almost. I'm not much of a fan of watching a TV in total darkness. In fact, I have a light mounted behind my wall mounted 52 inch that I use on a regular basis. Having some light in the room has two advantages. First, it makes the blacks seem a little darker and second, it reduces eye strain.

2. The contrast is better then my other two TV's by a wide margin. It makes the TV very 3D looking. There is a little crushing of black levels in some scenes, but that can be adjusted at the expense of the deepest blacks and contrast.

3. The color is phenomenal compared to the 52 inch which is about 3 years old. It is very vibrant and at the same time, more natural. Samsung claims that the color spectrum has been increased to about 97% of the available spectrum and I believe them. I can see many more color variations than I can on my big set.

4. The sound is very good for a TV. I didn't expect it to be that good. It is better than both of my other two TV's. I have a external surround system on my 52 inch because I can't stand the sound of it. This TV is much better.

5. Power usage is very low on this set. I have a Watts up? meter connected to the TV and the power varies between 60 watts to 97 watts. On average, it runs between 90 to 97 watts. Of course, you can increase the back light which will increase the power usage to about 135 watts, but that is not necessary, even in a very brightly lit room.

6. The bottom line is that this TV has the best picture I have seen in my home. Sometimes I say to myself, "WOW!". It's that good.

These are the things I don't like...

1. Like other posters have mentioned, some shows seem like you are watching a stage play or a soap instead of a finished movie. If you've ever watched a movie in the making, you will understand what I am saying. It's not always that way though. Blue Ray seems much better in this regard. It also seems to be somewhat related to the amount of 3D image presented. I think what we're seeing is a closer representation to to the recording process and we're not used to it. Oh well, it's not a deal breaker and it only happens on some shows.

2. As for off angle viewing, there is a difference. There seems to be a slight lose of contrast when viewing off angle. I has the effect of lessing the effect of black crushing so in a way, It could e considered a benefit. It is a very minor issue.

The bottom line is that the picture is exceptional.

Also...

From what I've seen in the stores, most plasma's looked washed out in comparison to LCD's, except for perhaps the top of the line Pioneer plasma's. Plasma's also have very serious problems with burn in, even though they deny it. You have to be very careful with plasma, even to the extent of not watching too many shows in a row that have black bars.Keep in mind that even LCD's can have stuck pixels if you leave a static picture on it too long. At least, that's what the instructions say. My LCD computer monitors don't seem to have any problem with it, so I'm not sure this is really a problem. In the end, LED/LCD is a great compromise between the best plasma's and LCD. I think one of the best things is that I can watch this TV for about 4 hours using the same amount of power that my 55 inch with surround system uses in about 1 hour. At my present usage, this TV costs me about $1.40 per month to run and that is running 7 to 8 hours a day.

One more thing...

I adjusted the set using CNET settings and I had to change some of the settings because they do their adjustments in a totally dark room. Still, the picture is very good. I also noticed that there was some judder until I set the auto-motion to smooth. All of the judder went away, very smooth motion now. I have one little complaint about the settings that you find online and that is that they always set it for a totally dark room. I don't know many people who watch TV that way. In a lit room, it usually causes the picture to looked washed out. A few adjustments takes care of it.

Samsung is always on the cutting edge. I'am a samsung kinda guy, so excuse the preferance. This set is amazing in every aspect. Before its turned on it looks great just sitting there, Everyone who sees it compliments the design, the TOC, even though it does nothing for performance .Although I have mine on a entertainment center, you can hang it on the wall, like a painting, 1.2" wide. 4 hdmi ports which is awsome, usb, pc, internet, digital audio, component connections, everything one would need, configuration options in the menu are very generous. One does not buy a flat screen for its speakers,so hook it up to a surround sound system, and enjoy. If you think the picture looks great in the store, when you get it home, adjust the menu option for home use, not store use and you will be amazed at the results, WOW factor on HD, super WOW on Blu-Ray.I was able to purchase this at a special price of $1259.00, a no brainer.

This TV is GREAT! This is my 3rd LCD TV but my only LED backlit TV, it makes a huge difference! The blacks are awesome, viewing angle is awesome, picture is awesome, styling is awesome! Only complaint is the speakers aren't the best, but I have a large home theatre system with high end JBL speakers so the TV speakers are a non issue anyway, besides, who doesn't have a home theatre system for a TV this nice?

Reviewer: Chris Ward,
just wanted to commment on my new purchase of the the un40b6000. I have been holding off for several years before taking the high definition plunge. I decided on purchasing the samsung edge lit led tv versus just the lcd version. I have to say for the most part I have been very impressed with the picture. right out of the box the tv was easy to setup and not that confusing on the menu options. Everything was pretty straight forward. HDMI cables are so much easier than having to mess with with all of the component and fiberoptic cables. Just plug and play. The picture quality is great and like many other comments have stated it might be to good. I have noticed especially on blue ray movies that the shows have lost their movie look. The picture is so clear that the movie looks like it is being performed on a stage. It is hard to describe in words seeing is truly believing. The only problems that I have run into with this tv is when I hooked up a samsung blueray player. It seems that there is a default program called samsung anynet+. If you dont disable the program from the blueray player it locks up the blueray player. Easy fix if you know the solution. Anyways if you are on the fence with a tv purchase this is a good product. If you can wait on purchasing like any electronics everything will get better and cheaper. The only advice I can give you is that get ready for some extra expenses. HDMI cables are not cheap. However the cheapest cables work just as good as the most expensive. If you are an existing customer with dishnetwork you can negogitate the service fee for having your hd service turned on. Go aheah and get a blueray player with the tv. Even the standard dvds look awesome on it. good luck and hope this review helps.

I looked around for quite some time before taking the plunge on this TV. We have had the TV connected to both a HD DirectTV box and an SD DirectTV box. The picture was obviously better when connected to the HD box but I was quite surprised at how well it did displaying SD(480). When comparing the image to other HD lcd tv's in the house the Samsung was far better at displaying SD tv. The sound isn't the best and I think is sounds better if you turn the SRS off, but I plan on connecting to a surround sound system anyway. One thing to consider is the lack of connections for devices that do not have a HDMI port.

Pros: Incredible HD display and excellent SD picture quality. Very thin along with a narrow bezel allows for placement in spots some 40 inch TV's can't fit. Easy to setup, the menus are intuitive and the remote is easy to use.

Cons: Average sound from the built in speakers but it is OK just not up to par with the display. Lack of connections for devices without HDMI ports.

After much deliberation, I decided to go with the Samsung (UN40B6000) 40-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LED HDTV because of the awesome picture and contrast ratio. The TV is a superb device for movies, video games, cable TV, and a computer monitor.
The TV's minor fall backs include a slight decline in quality if viewed from the side and horrible speakers. The glare from the screen isn't an issue because of the sheer light that is projected from the TV; however, there is a slight reflection from the frame of the TV.

Overall this is a great television!

I'm simply blown away by the picture on this set. We got an entry level Panasonic HD (around 23") when HD sets first came out, and it served us well, but we were ready for something a little bigger and more modern. For the longest time, I had my eyes on the Samsung LN40b630. That's a great LCD TV, don't get me wrong, and it was featured for a great price on Amazon. But then I decided to hop into a Best Buy just to see the picture on the 630 up close, and I just found myself staring at this beauty. Okay, yes, LED may be a clever marketing tool, and LED is really a subset of LCD... all I know is the picture on this set is vastly superior to that on the LCD sets that I saw. And for an investment of $200-$300 extra, this was a no-brainer. The ridiculous (and I mean that in a good way) contrast ratio, the Auto Motion Plus 120Hz, the multiple modes you can choose from and customize yourself whether you're in a dark or light environment... you really get what you pay for, in my opinion

The next step up, the 7000 series, has a ton of interactive features, but other than that, it appears to me to be very similar to this model, so why bother? If you want the best picture at the best price, and aren't really concerned with Yahoo widgets and internet connectivity, the UN40B6000 is the way to go.

A crystal clear picture, and being able to watch fast moving without any blurring truly makes watching sports an experience, and something else I've learned is that some channels or networks come across as higher resolution than others. In the first day or two after we acquired this set, we watched a few things here and there on various HD networks. Last night, my wife and I watched "How I Met Your Mother" on our CBS affiliate, and were blown away at how crisp the picture was. As I had heard others described, it's as if you're on the sound stage watching it, rather than viewing it through a video feed. And then there are other HD channels that look amazing, but not quite to that level. But I'm assuming the big events probably look the best... and to that end, I'm looking forward to checking out the Super Bowl (and the LOST premiere) on this bad boy. And I look particularly forward to watching our first Blu-Ray film.

The one thing I find annoying is that I have to purchase a Samsung Wireless LAN Adapter to get the Infolink service to work (and not to mention the Netflix streaming capability on the Samsung Blu-Ray player). Be that as it may, that is honestly the only negative that comes to mind. I love this TV. Besides the picture, the 1.3" thickness of the set is something to behold. And 40" was the perfect size for our living room.

So if you're on the fence and have a couple of models in mind, trust me, throw in the extra bucks if you can spare them, and go for this LED-LCD set. But don't take my word for it, go to your local electronics store and look at the televisions for yourself.

This is my first HD TV, so my impressions might be skewed, but I just love this TV. I did a lot of research on different TVs, and have always loved Samsung. I was looking at LCD sets until I saw this in person at Best Buy, and when the price here at Amazon dropped to just a couple hundred above my preset limit of $1,000 (at the time of purchase!) I decided it was worth the extra cash. Easy to set up, and picture quality is outstanding.

I just go my new Samsung UN40B6000 & absolutely love it. Easy to set up & has a beautiful picture. I love the energy saving aspect as I am an environment friendly gal. The sound is great too. My hearing isn't what is used to be & have been pricing out Bose 3-2-1 system because I don't want to run a bunch of wires around, but was amazed at the sound from the tv at a low volume. The Samsung warranty for additional 104.99 is a bargain too. I didn't buy mine throught Amazon (wish I did), but found it somewhere else for $200 cheaper. Didn't have free shipping though so actually saved $120. The other website (will not name) tried to push me on a 3 yr plan for $299. If you are someone who likes to insure your high end products (like me but I didn't pay $299) buy through Amazon & get the warranty.

This television is amazing. I don't care that the sound isn't that great because I have a surround sound system...most people should when investing in a nice television. The picture is difficult to beat. The complaints of the poor picture from side views are completely false. THere are always going to be a few bad apples in a review of a product because people will always find something to complain about, either that or they got a damaged TV. Picture looks as good from the far angles as it does in the center. There are many nice features such as the mp3 input and ethernet capabilities. This TV is a nice purchase!

Hooo!! I just purchase thie Samsung LED TV today. It is a dream come true for me. I have been looking for over a month for a new TV. I was read and read, Ask and ask the sale person for every knowlage I can before I buy this one. Wow what a good decision. I had a Magnavox 32" 720p that quit working after 3 years. Think it because I start to play Blue ray with HDMI in to it. I set auto out put from the blue ray but I think I force 1080p in to my 720p. Called Magnavox they know exectly what happen (like it happen often) my power board was burn out. So any one that have 720p becareful. I know that Samsung is a very good brand, but I don't know how good it is until i seen this one un40b6000. The price was out of my range, and I was setting down with 60hz Samsung 550 model for around $1,000. I purchase the 6000 for little over $1300. I worth the money. I though my Magnavox was good picture, but not even compare to this samsung. 40" is way big enough for me, and i think it is the right size for any room unless you are in a hall or sport bar or very big room. I love the auto sound setting it help a lot. My wife and I was always got mad at the net work station that crank up the sound of comecial too lound, and we have to keep adjust volume up and down on our old TV. After we seted the auto sound we now are relaxing not jump up and down like before(more peace full feeling if you know what we mean). I notice that on the sit com the sound of back ground laughing is also smooded not jump up to disturb you nerves. WE LOVE IT!!. You can turn it off when you watch the movie to get special sound effects. the finish is beautiful the base ia a real class not plastic, looks very classy. I play Wall-E, Die hard, Across the Universe, Battle of great Brithan.Hoo we never seen any think like these Blue ray. Thank you Samsung for build the best TV for us cosumers. This is truly a Cadilac of TV.
I can't wait to watch Tennis US opon on it.
Pro: Great picture, color, sport pictures is like you are standing beside the player. Blue ray is so sharp it's unreal, great sound from little speakers. I don't have cable or disk, and don't have to deal with these pay TV provider the try to BS us about buying HD TV signal from them. The true is you can get HD off the air from every digital brodcast, which they all are. My on the air picture is so charp, and it free. I am getting over 60 chanals over the air, and it growing. If I want to watch the late release movie I just rent them from Redbox.com for $1.00 a night.
Con: The screen have refexion like Plsma a litlle, The cable hook ups should be on the bottom, only one RCA input(I gusses samsung want you to use HDMI for all conection,

Reviewer: J. Ogann, Iowa
This is a wonderful TV. The picture is outstanding and the Home Theater Store in Houston not only came up with an outstanding price but excellent service. Try to buy from this store. They are the best.

Yes, the tuner is a little slow but 99% of us are going to use this set with HDMI sources like a HD cable or Satellite box - right? No flaws in the display but you have to open the little door on the remote and find the A/V mode that suits your environment. This set has a huge number of "knobs to turn" as far as setting up the picture so be careful and find the mode and settings that you need. Once you get it set - it will blow you away.

Yes, the sound isn't what you got out of the 250# "console" TV that you just replaced. It has small speakers because it's a flat panel TV. They are all that way. So stop complaining and go buy yourself a little 5.1 channel sound system that has an optical input. Hook it to the optical output of this set and the Cable or Sat box (see below) and it will be the best show you have ever heard or seen. Better yet, go buy yourself one that has a DVD upconvert or Blue Ray DVD player in it. The LG LHT854 on Amazon is a good example (for less than $200). Buy your optical and HDMI cables here on Amazon too and save a lot of $$. All the hype you read about certain cables being better is wrong. They don't need to be gold or start with "M". Speaker cables don't need to be big, fat and hard to work with. Unless you are running 2000 watts or more, 18 or 16 gauge wire is just fine. It's all digital data so there is no way the optical or HDMA cable can effect the quality of the sound or video. Be sure to connect your optical sound cable from your cable or Sat box directly to your sound system so you don't pick up a delay from the TV processing it. IF your sound system has only one optical input, buy an optical splitter/combiner on Amazon for a couple of dollars and combine the optical sources from the TV and cable or Sat box. This all works.

Sharp has taken the most appropriate road on LED backlighting in my view, simply replace the florescent system with proven technology that was developed for the laptop industry by leaders like Apple. It's very bright and even.

Since writing the above review, I have become even more sold on this product. Sharp has a fairly small market share in this field so they try hard to support their users. They offer a program called Aquos Advantage. It includes 3 mo.of warranty extension and a newsletter with info on using their products. It also includes a REAL help line you can call to get help if you don't understand something or can't make a feature work. If you are new to HDTV this may be of value to you. They also have a Facebook page and are very responsive through that site. The bigger manufactures may have these contacts as well but Sharps people seem to care about each customer.

The other thing I have noticed is the quality of the graphics engine. I connected my 3 year old standard def (480P) DVD player to the set using the "component" connection and the picture is as good or better than from an HDMI-connected Up-convert player. This indicates that the graphics engine in this set is outstanding.

When you get yours, open the little door on the bottom of the remote control and check out the different preset video modes. You will find them very helpful as you try different sources or types of material.
Trend setter? LC32LE700UN LED Full-array TV

Review Date: August 15, 2009
Reviewer: G. Perry,
I've been on Amazon for years and seldom write reviews.

However, I spent about 30 minutes watching and generally checking this set out at a local dealer, about a week ago.

The image you see here is misleading. Misleading in that the set itself is surprising more beautiful than this image shows. And there is a blue light V-shaped symbol in the center of the bottom horizontal frame. That might strike some as tacky but in fact, it's a rather nice understated touch. Another surprise is just how light it is. You can easily pick it up and move it with no strain. Try that win an old Trinitron CRT set.

The picture stunned. I was completely surprised by how great it is. It has deep rich color, uniform brightness and as critical as I am (Only the Sony XBR8 RGB LED Sony has impressed me, until now) I have to say for the price, it tells me that full-array (LEDs completely cover the back, instead of just being around the edges) can be done well and at a price that will sell.

Assuming the set proves reliable, with no negative surprises, it's going to cause Sony and Samsung a real price headache. The 32" Samsung edge-lighted (Not Full-Array either) is around twice the price of this set and I see no difference in picture quality.

Check it out.
a winner

got this about a week ago. the picture is amazing. very black blacks, extremely sharp color. paired with a sharp aquos blu-ray player, the aquos link system works very nicely. more than enough connections. menu/settings are pretty easy to access/understand. LED technology seems the way to go given the energy savings and life of the backlight, and sharp seems to have a winner here. interesting to me - if you upgrade to this from an old lcd hdtv, you'll notice a huge difference in the heat coming from the tv.

the only downside are the speakers - they are clear enough but tiny and hollow. but this holds for every lcd tv on the market as far as i am concerned, so i can't really hold this against sharp.

like the previous reviewer said, as long as it proves reliable sharp has produced a tv that gives the best sony, samsung, and other sets a run for their money - at a much lower price.
Don't hesitate, get this TV! -- with caveats, of course

I've lived with this TV for a about two months. We have three game consoles attached, incl. the Blu-Ray player as part of the Sony PS3. It is in our family room and is used several hours a day (I'm ashamed to admit).

On the plus side:

Fabulous picture, after some adjusting. There are a zillion adjustments on the TV, so if you spend some time, you can get a wonderful, uniform picture with great contrast and color saturation.

The black matte finish of the screen does away with all but the most severe (i.e., bright) light sources that might reflect from the screen.

Price.

Sharp Aquos brand.

No spotlighting or banding as one person mentioned -- very uniform lighting.

LOTS of inputs. (8 to be exact -- most, but not all are HDMI)

Easy to update firmware when available (did it yesterday).

On the negative side:

The built-in speakers. Way too soft, even on the loudest setting. Since we didn't want to have our stereo system on all the time, I attached an unused set of desktop computer speakers I had lying around the house. Now we have better sound than probably any built in TV speakers. Great solution that I recommend to anyone purchasing this TV. Of course, this is an issue with all flat screen TV's to some extent: tinny sound and lacking in volume, even for everyday use. (Get some computer speakers, preferably like those I have that do not have an on/off switch but switch themselves on/off when there is a signal. Piece of cake.)

All the adjustments you can make to the picture! Well, not a negative, but it takes awhile to find your way around all the adjustments, and Sharp is not good about explaining them. The out-of-the-box setup was not optimal: reds were a little pinkish, the picture was not quite bright enough, etc., but after some tweaking I have a spectacular picture.

When changing channels, there is a "fade effect" between channels that is annoying. I have not been able to figure out how not to get this effect. (There is a "fade effect" in the menu, but disabling it has no effect.)

Summary:

If you haven't seen a full array LED LCD TV, you're in for a treat. Don't let the premium priced Samsung LED LCD's tempt you either, because their LED's are all on the edges. This has a full array behind the screen so that the picture is much brighter (when adjusted) and more uniform. Buy this and get some computer speakers. You will not regret it.
No flashlighting, No banding. GREAT VALUE.

It's been about a month now owning this TV and I am generally very happy with my purchase. In almost all aspects its just a wonderful TV and I think it's certainly a no brainer in the current LED market. Here's what I've found out about my new Sharp TV:

Pros:
It's got the blacks you want. Plain and simple. Definitely impressive stuff compared to my other two LCD's in the house.

Nothing dead, nothing stuck, no flashlighting, and no banding. Another reviewer mentioned these problems but from what I have experienced and what I have heard from others this is a near non existent problem.

Deep customization for adjusting hue, saturation, tint etc etc allowing for really fine tuning. Personally this has been more of a con but its only because I'm too cheap to pay for calibration.

Great, vibrant colors in general with a picture that has "Pop".

Cons:
The included remote really isn't that great. I don't enjoy the buttons themselves nor the layout. Of the Phillips, Sanyo, and Toshiba's I have used recently I would say this isn't the worst but not as nearly as good as the Toshiba's. Whatever, not much of a con but it's true. You can always use a universal.

As good as the colors are...your gonna need some calibrating to get this one right. I am still trying to get what I want out of this guy but I'm positive it'll work out in the long run. Mainly it's an issue with flesh tones.

The speakers are honestly pretty poor. Even compared to my Phillips and Sanyo LCD's these speakers just have a bit of a tinny sound. Not a huge deal but this is where I have knock half a star off on my overall review.

No matter what, this is a winning product. Highly recommended...especially in the 32" market. GREAT VALUE. ~4.5 STARS / 5

Bought Sight unseen and very happy!

After seeing the Samsung LED in a store, we decided that we wanted an LED tv. We read the reviews online and decided to go with the Sharp LED instead of the Samsung. It wasn't sold in any store in our area so we had to buy it sight unseen. We are very pleased with the picture quality! We watch it using an antenna and connected to the computer, and the picture is very crisp (I'm shocked at how good it is on Hulu, abc.com, etc). We do notice that we have to adjust the picture brightness when we switch between tv and video inputs. Videos tend to be a little dark without adjusting, but nothing serious enough to complain about.

For us, the sound is just fine, but we may not be the best reviewers for that since we don't focus too much on that aspect of the tv.

There is a slight delay when you change the channels. We're not sure if this is standard for the technology or unique to this tv.

Overall, for our transition from CRT to LED, we're very pleased!

Reviewer: F. Selto,
The Sharp Aquos 32" LED/LCD hybrid works perfectly as our second TV. The TV arrived within the promised window and took no more than half an hour to set up. Picture quality is great, and TV was easy to set up and use right out of the box. Haven't bothered to tinker with the picture settings, although those seem easy to play with if you have the notion. Multiple connectors allow us to use our legacy record/playback devices, with room for upgraded gear when we get around to it. Probably do need to buy some sort of integrated Blu-ray/DVD home theater equipment to improve the sound, but that can wait for great deals, which appear to be coming. Perhaps could have bought the 40" version, but no complaints with the 32".

I was skeptical. I had done a little research and everyone was telling me to get the Samsung and I did. Believe it or not we don't have HD in the high rise that I live in, but I was determined to get the HDTV and a Blu-Ray and wait until they upgrade to HD. But, when I tokk it out of the box and turned in on, I knew I couldn't live with that. The picture was horrible! I watch a lot of regular TV and I just couldn't deal with the Samsung. Besides, I feel the 37 inch was too large for my bedroom, but I don't have a clue as to why the pictore was so lousy.

So, I sent the Samsung back, called Dell and they had the Sharp LED LCD HDTV on sale and I got it at a good price. Once we hooked up the satelite (I have DirecTV)and the Blu-Ray I was in love. The picture on Standard Definition chanels was amazing! The Blu-Ray was perfect! I watched "Public Enemy" and was mesmerized. I didn't even have to tweak the color at all. It was beautiful right out the box. The colors are rich and I don't have shadows around their faces. The sound is really good without any speakers. The stand is very well made adn ti screws down into the television. There is no chance of it falling over.

What I liked:

1) slim, black, minimalist design enclosure. It looks cool.

2) The picture is the best, a notch or two above my
Samsung LCD. The image is sharper and the tonal range
is wider. Blacks are really black and whites are really
white. The millions of colors in between look good too.

Reviewer: Jazz Guy,
At first I thought I'd be the last person to ever buy a flat-screen TV, much less an HD. I took one look at the picture on this and was jaw-drop stunned! And that was just the analog channels. Once I figured out how to work the digital channels access I realized that I've never seen anything like this. I'm a previous owner of many Sharp appliances of all kinds over the years, ("from Sharp minds come sharp products"), and trying the Aquos on for size paid off once again. Keep all the Sonys, the more expensive Samsungs, the Panasonics, toss the plasmas and the so-called 720's too... if you like the most brilliant color, sharp, clear, "jump-into-your-living-room" definition, a huge range of adjustability, and surround-sound to boot, look no further! I added the extended-warranty for peace of mind, and it was only 90 bucks for 2 extra years--not bad insurance for an item like this..AND it's covered for service "in-home," so there's no annoying packing/shipping to fuss with. My recommendation: BUY this TV. Or a wider-screen version if you have the living room for it. This 32" replaced my old Sharp 27" and THAT had an excellent picture too. I'd give this 6 stars if I could.

The first TV I looked at in the store was the Samsung LED. After doing more research I found this Sharp. It had all the features of all the higher priced TV's at a much lower price. I'm glad I purchased it it's an awesome TV. The picture is beautiful.
Wow! This is the best LED Flatscreen TV for the money, period.

Reviewer: DW in Astoria, NY,
I resisted getting an LCD TV since so many of the different brands I saw always had a blotchy picture quality and were not nearly as clear as traditional TV tube sets. It was like the technology wasn't quite there yet.
When LED back-lit TVs came out, I was more hopeful but the prices were outrageous. Then I found the Sharp Aquos LED set and the price wasn't bad. Most stores don't carry Sharp even though they are a leader in LCD TVs but we found a 40" version at Bestbuy and were very pleased with the picture quality so we decided to go for it. You might consider using Google Shopping to find a better price. PowersellerNYC had a set including tax and free delivery for just under $700. Your cable provider will likely provide the HDMI connector cable so don't let them talk you into buying one.
How good is the Sharp Aquos?
Wow! I couldn't be happier with the picture quality from this 32" set. High-definition programing will just blow you away with the crisp outlines and truly black tones. It's almost distracting how clear the nearly 3-D quality is. No blotchy skin tones or blurry lines on this set.
Using the TV is relatively easy. The only adjustment I made was to tone down the brightness a bit but left everything else on factory setting. We will probably add speakers to the set but the built-in versions are quite decent enought.
If you thought you never saw an LCD TV with good enough picture quality, you should consider the Sharp LED version. The wait was truly worth it.

Worth The Money- Great Buy

Review Date: May 27, 2010
Reviewer: A. Sellers, Los Angeles, CA
I did quite a bit of research before I bought this TV and read all the reviews - They were mostly good for this HDTV-but a few were really bad. I don't understand why ANY were bad. For me, this has been a really great tv. Initially I thought there was a problem with the speakers which had been mentioned in some reviews, so I purchased computer speakers from Best Buy. I hooked them up using an adapter and wow the sound was great! Then I had to exchange my DVR with the cable company and realized the TV speakers were just fine- it was the old DVR box that was giving me the weak sound. Still I think the additional speakers add a lot and are worth it. Now it sounds like I have a really cool sound system! The suggestions on this review site on how to adjust the colors and tones was very helpful. Definitely pay attention to the suggestions and use them if you don't quite like the skin tone colors when you first get the tv. It took a little adjusting to get them right with the high def, but overall if was pretty darn easy.
Pluses: the tv is very lightweight and it was very easy connecting everything up once my old tv was disconnected. I admit I still haven't figured out how to turn off the blue light at the bottom of the tv ( I didn't read the entire book of instructions), but since the blue light is so cool I'm not bothered by it anyway.
Cons- Yes it does take a second or two for the television to come on (lag time), but that doesn't bother me at all. I'm not a gamer. I just love my tv programs and watching them on this beautiful screen is quite a treat. The colors are bright - I've had no problem with things being too dark as some reviews have mentioned. Overall, I wouldn't worry at all about purchasing this tv. You'll be very happy with it. My only disappointment is that I didn't purchase a slightly bigger tv. Now I realize I could have. One more thing; The remote is large and kind of plain, but I didn't buy it for the remote. I can always buy a combo remote and since I almost always use the cable rermote (which is also clunky and cumbersome), it's really not a big deal. The tv price went down about a week after I got mine so I wish I'd waited a week to get the lower price, but overall, I'm still happy and would definitely recommend this tv.

Okay, I'm not a home theater junkie, but I can tell when a television looks great without having to compare it to one right next to it (ex. best Buy). This TV looks incredible and is very affordable. I haven't tested the sound at all cause its plugged into one of those sound-bar things.... works very well. Quit researching televisions and just buy this one, I guarantee that you'll be happy (make sure you get some kind of warranty).

I bought this Tv as a Christmas present for myself, and have been just blown away by the picture quality. i have it hooked to a Blu-Ray player and cable. I have done some adjustments to the picture to best suit my viewing preferences, but it looked pretty good right out of the box.
I researched several brands and models and thought for the price this was an absolute steal.
I havent seen a tv at this price with a better picture, great for a second set and bedroom tv.

This TV is excellent. At the store where I bought this, they had televisions from most popular brands, all
showing the same movie, but the difference in quality was evident: the sharp aquos has better image definition, sharpness, faster refreshing rate, and an amazing brightness.

The only details I did not like is that the tuner is slow and the sound system
has little power, but is still a good investment.

The gaming experience is amazing, and since the TV has many connections, including HDMI
is very easy to connect any game console.

Skip to the bottom for pros and cons.

Background:
I will be using this Sharp LC-32LE700UN exclusively as a computer monitor. My review may not be useful for some people since I do not intend to watch very much TV and videos with this LCD TV. I bought this model due to finding out Sharp manufacturer their own IPS-panel (though they call their version ASV or Advanced Super View). Also because this model have 'full-array LED backlight'. Unlike more expensive and larger Sharp monitors, this 32" do not have local dimming. I will not bother with the 120hz spec because they achieve that through dithering. These 120hz LCD, as of writing, do not actually input 120hz signal.

Aesthetic/external impressions:
The TV is quite light for its size. The plastic framework is glossy black, but in term of build quality it's pretty standard. The stand is very sturdy, unfortunately can't swivel. Unlike some other LCD TV, the screen surface is soft like computer monitors, it doesn't have a thick protection, so don't get mad and punch or throw things at it. Overall, Sharp skim on the bodywork of the TV, so if your purpose is to impress friends and neighbors, this TV isn't it. It don't look half bad, but definitely not like a high end Sony Bravia.

Positive points:
-Image quality: Amazing image quality and details for this price range. This quality is worthy to be in a TV twice the cost. Very colorful and smooth. The screen is neither matte nor gloss, its kind of in the middle which fits me perfectly. I'm mostly impressed by the contrast, lots of shadow details. There is a little 'color banding' which you'll only find it if you do specific tests to reveal it, its not possible for me to notice for normal usages.

-Backlight uniformity and black level: Excellent. In the dark, I set the TV to show a black screen and took photos of it using my camera set to 1/4th and 1/8th seconds exposure to exaggerate any inconsistency/backlight leakage... there was none from what my camera could make out. The full-array LED backlight really does a good job here. Though this TV do not have local-dimming feature, as of writing I do not find any 32" LCD that has it.

-Viewing angle: Excellent. When they say 176* degree horizontally and vertically, they mean it. Though the colors lose some saturation when viewing off angle, but this is a minimal issue for me. I browse the web with this TV so I can tell the black text lighten a bit from an angle, but not enough to bother me. The color that suffers the most is red, if its not a dark shade it might turn pinkish from an angle. (I am being very critical here and is noticing these when viewing static images.) Overall to me the image quality remain excellent and I am thoroughly impressed with the viewing angle.

Power consumption:
This TV is very energy efficient. By my measurement, at factory setting it consumes 61w. With backlight brightness at -8 (out of -16 to 16) it consumes 49w. At lowest setting, it consumes 37w. These measurements are with audio muted and energy saver mode (OPC) turned off.

-Response rate: I notice minimal or no ghosting for videos. I do notice a bit for 3D gaming (connected to my computer video card running high frame rates), but its not bad enough to distract from the experience.

-Diagonal/hexagonal pixels arrangement: Neither positive or negative for me, this Sharp panel is interesting because the pixels are arranged diagonally or hexagonal, instead of horizontally/vertically. I haven't actually found a technical reason for this. Since I was using the screen as a computer monitor, straight lines looks jagged closed up. However, Sharp recommend you stay at least 4ft from the 32" screen, at that distant everything looks smooth. This will be down to personal preference, but I guess you have to see this TV first to know if the diagonal pixels suits you.

Negative points:
-Menu/setting screen: This is not a negative for me, but some people might find the menu screen a bit bland to look at, the graphic looks a bit old and blocky. Again, it won't impress your friends. On the other hand, its quite straight forward and come with many ways to adjust colors which can be useful.

-Speakers: Doesn't effect me since I use external speakers. The internal speakers quality won't be that great. It's a bit trebly sounding. You will want to turn the 'Treble' value from 0 to -6.

-No 1080p for RGB-15pins (PC) connection: Many competitor brands allow 1080p resolution through PC connection. Its my fault for not reading Sharp's manual before buying this TV, though they didn't list it in the specs. Through the PC connection, you are allowed up to 1600x1200 pixels max, though it looks ugly. If you try to force 1080p using your computer's video card settings, it will look ugly. You have to use 720p resolution (1360x768) for the image to look good. The reason why I prefer this PC analog connection over HDMI is because it has much less 'input lag' (which is helpful for gaming). With HDMI, TVs applies more digital effects/processing which can increase input lag time.

-The infamous IPS-panel red and green tint: People who used many IPS-panel monitors will know about this. For the screen I received, it has a pillar of green tint in the middle and the right side of the screen is pinkish, these are noticeable when the screen is showing a static background of white or light gray. Since I use this TV as my computer monitor, I notice it all the time while viewing the web. If the screen is displaying black, viewing it from an extreme off angle shows a huge blob of green tint taking up the majority of screen. Do not worry about this if you are using this TV for its proper purpose: to watch TV and videos. Not everyone will get this problem, but if you do, you will most likely not notice it at all when watching videos.

Input lag (for gamers):
I gave away my 'lag free' computer monitor, so I cannot do a 'side by side stop-watch test' to post the exact input lag time in milliseconds. If you play any games at all, you should change the AV mode to GAME. To do this, open the 'cap' in the bottom of the remote and press 'AV MODE'.

The STANDARD mode with HDMI connection has input lag such that the cursor on the screen moved after you move your mouse. With GAME mode and HDMI, there is very little input lag, but unless you are extremely sensitive/expert gamer, you probably won't notice. For me, I do notice and it is not a placebo effect because I consistently play poorer in online FPS games.

If you want nearly lag free, use GAME mode and the 'RGB 15pin' (PC) connection. Unfortunately, you only get 720p through this connection, 1080p is not supported through this connection. I can only play FPS games well with through this RGB connection.

Calibrating the monitor:
It is clear that by default the color temperature has a blue tint. Try turning the 'Color Temperature' from Middle to Low. Also the color red is pinkish. To fix it, I changed the Red value for "C.M.S.-Value" from 0 to -10. Also to me the colors are a bit saturated and I set 'Color' from 0 to -5.

The screen surface of this LCD TV is thin. I use this TV as a computer monitor. My 'colorimeter' that I regularly used to calibrate colors for computer monitors work with this thin-screen TV, it didn't work with TV with thick-screen surface. Instead of manually adjusting the TV settings, the colorimeter adjust the colors automatically, now the TV is showing very accurate colors with no blue tint. Of course, with this method you have to be using a computer with the monitor and buy a colorimeter.

Overall:
I would recommend this LCD TV if you care most about image quality and don't mind that the physical exterior of the TV isn't made of more expensive metallic materials. I will not be keeping this TV because I play games with it and require very little input lag, however, that can only be achieve through the RGB 15pins (PC) connection. Unfortunately, the PC connection for this TV do not support 1080p. Therefor I am opting for a TV with lower image quality, but does support 1080p through RGB connection.

PRO:
-Excellent image quality, great contrast
-Perfect backlight uniformity, great black level
-Very, very wide viewing angle, however colors can lose some saturation
-Fast response rate (4ms), input lag is acceptable with GAME mode, horrendous with other modes
-Low power consumption

CON:
-The design for the menu/setting screen is bland looking
-Speakers quality not great
-RGB 15pin (PC) input does not accept 1080p resolution, 1600x1200 max, but only look good with 720p
-The one I received have a green and red tint over large part of the screen, noticeable with white and light gray background

PS. Mine came with two hot/stuck pixels, but the funny thing is they disappears or I just rub them with my fingers and they go away and only shows up rarely. It also have a few stuck sub-pixels (the entire pixel isn't stuck, but one of the three sub-pixels that made up the pixel), I almost never notice these though.
Great HDTV!

It's backligth LED system makes possible an ultra bright sharp image.
With low definition signal the performance is very good, but with High Definition signal it has a stunning and outstanding performance.
Its only flaw it's the volume level, which sometimes is a little low, depending of the source.
In general terms it's a Great HDTV, perfect for a small or medium-size rooom.

Consumer Reports has not rated this set yet. Their current top rated set is the samsung ln650, which although good, has minor flaws, such as "3-ball effect" (tennis and football), varying shade of green on football fields when comparing line of scrimmage versus either side, and some smudginess.

I see none of that with UN46B8000 that I bought last week. Fast motion is excellent. White is white, black is black, and reds and blues are beautiful. Clarity is excellent. Once in a while I've seen intense yellows and greens where I've wondered if it was an accurate depiction, but I've not made any adjustments yet. But, it's hard to get all these qualities, especially whites, in plasma. I'm not a professional, just my observations based on a few months of shopping.

My opinion is that plasma has lost it's advantage, especially if you consider power consumption. Plasmas only advantage now is price, but that should change over time.

The only problem with the un46b800 I've had is that occasionally the backlight setting jumps up. I think c/net mentioned this. Still, I'm very satisfied with this set.
Great LED-LCD TV, fair to high pricing

I love the set. it's extremely thin, and I the color is brilliant. I haven't noticed much flashlighting, triple ball effect, or other problems which effect most standard LCD sets. If you're relying on factory settings for picture quality, you should seriously go to [...]
Do not use the slim wall mount if you have one. It's magnetic and causes some problems w/ the set.

I was able to take advantage get a steal of a price on a sale, and had to jump on it. If you have money to burn, it's a great set. there are some 9 series standard LCD sets from Samsung which are great.

Be aware that there are no true LED sets out there. This is an edge lit set. That means that there are some LED's along the edges of the screen providing backlight to the lcd screen. The next series, 9000, will feature local dimming LED which are spread in zones throughout the set. Not a true LED, but closer, however .. more than likely.. you'll pay the price.

If you're in the market for an edge lit LED-LCD set, and you're happy w/ 46in, jump in. If not, wait it out a bit until there's new tech you want badly, or until the prices drop.

I never write product reviews. Never. This is my first one in 13 years of using the Internet.

To put it simply, this TV is amazing. Absolutely unbelievably amazing. If you think it looks good in a show room, it really is even better once you take it home. The difference between this TV and others is that it is like watching HDTV for the first time all over again.

I unboxed the set and The Dark Knight happened to be on HBO in HD so I turned it on with high expections and it even blew those out of the water.

I could go on and on and on here but there really is not much more else you can say. Everything about this TV is perfect and it is definitely money well spent.

Stunning in Every Way

Much has been said here about picture clarity, features, design, etc... Let me pass on a few different comments which may benefit those contemplating this purchase, or who have already made the purchase.

To those of you who are skeptical about buying electronics online, relax. Although it is risky buying from those Manhattan online electronics resellers, every step of ordering my Samsung UN46B8000 from Amazon was perfect. Lets start with pricing. After a little web surfing, I found a site that mentioned a significant discount would appear, once the TV is placed in the shopping cart at Amazon.com. I tried it and it worked. For kicks, I printed the page and took it to Best Buy. They admitted they could not come close to matching Amazon's price. Went home and ordered it from Amazon, saving hundreds of dollars. Emails from Amazon soon followed with updates on my order. A couple days later, a phone call to schedule delivery. Two guys delivered the TV and lifted the box cover to verify no visible damage in transit. After a brief conversation, they explained they do a lot of deliveries for Amazon. BTW, I also ordered the Slim-Mount Wall Mounting Kit from Amazon. Best Buy = $250, Amazon $125.

A bit about wall-mounting the TV. Two grooved, hockey puck size disks mount to the wall, spaced about 7 inches apart. Another pair of disks connected together with a cable, mount to the back of the TV. You then hang the TV over the wall disks. Like everyone else, all I could envision was my TV crashing to the ground, but it works....scary, but it works. Note, if you need help aligning vertical placement, drill your wall holes 7 inches apart and 22 inches above where you want the bottom of the TV to be. Note to Samsung: Put this in the manual. The instructions that come with the mounting kit are worthless.

And now, the TV. More features than I have time for. I noticed a new firmware update had been released, so I downloaded it from Samsung. It's a single executable, which you run to unzip as a folder containing several files. Open the folder and drag the files to the root of your USB flash stick. Plug the stick in the back of the TV and perform the software upgrade. The TV wont find the files if they're still compressed or not at root level. Samsung: Put this on your website. For users connecting their TV to the Internet via the TV's RJ-45 or optional USB Wifi Stick, the process may be simpler.

Other process' like deleting unwanted channels are not accurately explained in the manual, but after a few minutes of screwing around, you learn how to select the channel lineup, pick a channel then press Tools to get a pop-up menu and choose Delete. Connecting my laptop to the TV via a 15 pin VGA cable yielded a sweet, finely detailed image. If you're not planning to display movies/pics from websites via an Internet connection, you can still display content from your PC, if your PC has video out. The TV also has a 2.5mm audio in jack, so you can run audio from your PC as well. One other cool feature is by holding down the Volume Down button on the TV for 10 seconds, the Remote Control beeps making it simple to find a lost remote.

All in all, a very nice TV with some cool features. This is our first flat-panel TV, so nothing really to compare to. BTW, to the guy who commented on two hot spots on the bottom black bar during movies, I'm getting none of that. Just a perfect picture from all sources: HD Cable, SD Cable, SD DVD, PC and PS2 (PS3 and Internet coming soon).

just got it up and running today. put in "crank" and knew i would have to take it off standard and put it on movie mode. that was good. tried "the matrix" and it looked a bit too green so i took that down a little, along with picture. took dark up one. then threw in "death race" and damn, there it is: perfect tv! i suppose i will do a THX tweak whenever i get one of those movies but it looks really great after just a few adjustments.

after reading some reviews that had distress about some light in the corners, i went to best buy and stared and stared. i just can't see it! i love this tv. still have a sony DLP in the living room which is decent at 1080i but this blows it away for clarity. movies look wet, like they did when i had a plasma tv (a toshiba that broke) and i may noticed a couple motion moments but i can't be sure until i watch a lot more. which i plan on doing. also plan on running ps3 games but have not gotten around to that yet. i'll ammend if i find problems but so far i am very happy with my purchase.

Went from a 27" CRT to this TV. After a month and a half of research and one failed purchase (samsung pn50B860 - BUZZ!) we bought this tv from Amazon directly (not from another dealer through Amazon). I had looked at a few other retailers but Amazon offered a great discount/free shipping/no sales tax - how could we say no? TV was delivered at the end of the day as requested (I work nights and sleep days) and set up quickly, got lots of good advice about accessories/TV care from the delivery person.
The set design is sleek, thin and the picture is beautiful. Sometimes I notice slight banding in areas (the glow surrounding Harry Potter's wand for example) and the blacks in some of the darkest scenes have faint pale areas but overall one nice set. Might bea drawback considering the amount of money this TV costs but we looked at every set out there and the only sets to beat this picture-wise would be the top of the line plasmas. I chose this set because the picture was the best for the money, the thinness of the screen, great viewing angle. There is some reflection on the screen but not really an issue and we have the set in a room full of windows.
The menu is simple which is a good thing because the instruction book is not! The remote is fairly simple to use as well but does light up with the slightest movement as one person noted. Went to CNET for settings and colors are simply beautiful. Finally got the kids to watch some Pixar films and the detail is astounding.
I was expecting the sound to be much worse after reading some of the reviews but it is fine and of course we have a Bose sound system hooked up to it. This is our first flatscreen so we need accessories...Will be getting a WIS09ABGN LinkStick Wireless LAN Adapter or perhaps PS or XBOX so we can have our netflix on the system, will update later.
At First, Problems. But all was Resolved

Reviewer: David Brianza,
Upon delivery of my beautiful new LED Samsung TV, I was dismayed to discover two items: The first was a small rectangle, a shadow of some kind (possibly a shim, or spacer) having emerged into the picture area, and second, a most annoying very loud humming sound emitted by the set.
I contacted Samsung. The panel was immediately replaced, curing the obscurred-screen problem. The humming sound, which really was quite annoying, persisted, however. The technician who switched the panel was rather at a loss, as were all with whom I spoke as to what the problem could be. The solution came shortly after I decided to upgrade the cable box I was currently using to a digital hi-def box. Upon installation of the hi-def box, which I had fervently hoped would cure the problem, I was disappointed --- the hum persisted. A tech at Comcast suggested I try HDNI interface, instead of the multi-cable interface that came with the hi-def box. I bought a new, gold HDMI interface cable, just as I had for the blue ray player, and connected the cable box to the TV. Instead of no less than ten points of connection as the Comcast cable required (5 multi-coloured plugs on each end of the cable; 5 to plug into the cable box, 5 to plug into the TV) I went from one plug from the cable box to one to the TV. And guess what. No more hum! Not only was the problem was cured, but the picture went from fantastic to incredible. I am at last able to realise the full value of this remarkable TV set. Formerly, I had recommened that a prospective buyer might do well to steer clear of this set. Now, however, seeing (and hearing) it work as it should, I cannot recommend it highly enough. The picture is bright and so clear as to be nearly 3-dimensional. Indeed, until actual 3-D TV comes along, you simply cannot do better than the Samsung LED.

This is a fantastic television, but beware that some sellers are trying to sell the 2009 model for the price of the 2010 model. The 2010 model has "local dimming" LED technology, which is superior to that of the 2009 model. Don't pay for what you're not getting!

I bought this TV from a big box store and brought it home on Friday. I also bought the Samsung Blue Ray, BD-P3600 and Sound bar HT-WS1. All I can say is wow the TV is quite the sight to see. The picture is incredible even right out of the cable box in standard def. But high def is truely a great picture. But the picture out of the Blue Ray with a BR disc, all I can say is that it is like I have been watching black and white all these years and now I have color. Keep in mind my previous TV was a Sharp Aquos LCD, about 5 years old and it was a 30" model. It had a great picture.

Setup was very easy. The BR player came with the USB wireless dongle and it was a snap to setup and connect to my wireless network. I downloaded the current firmware, took about 20 minutes and went smoothly. Next I put the wireless dongle on the TV and set it up. Difference between the BR player and TV wireless is that the BR player allowed you to type in the network config where the TV had to see the network broadcast. I keep my SSID broadcast off so I had to turn it on for a few minutes while I got the new firmware update for the TV. It went quicker and finished in about 10 minutes.

Along with my purchase I did get the high end Monster HDMI cables. It figure I am spending this much on the setup the price of the cables are worth it. And they are. The Sound bar came with an optical cable so that was a snap to hook up.

I am looking forward to the great quality I have seen so far.

It has so many extra features like internet. It includes a small tiny remote that can control other samsung tvs in your home as well as this one. Beautiful look with the clear frame around it.

Two years ago I bought a 40inch Samsung LCD tv and loved it. That was the first "new age" tv I had purchased. I've had the UN46B8000 model for about 3 months now and love it! Honestly, the picture is so much clearer and it's almost scary. People and image move on screen and have such real-to-life movements. I was a bit skeptical about buying an LED TV since it is relatively new technology as far as TVs go, but rest assured, Im more than happy with my purchase. The colors are incredibly brillant.

I read a few bad reviews about LED tv's relating to how they display black colors and backgrounds. I actually went to a Big Screen Tv store and spoke with a guy who is an "expert" i guess on the subject. He just happen to have an LCD and LED tv next to one another and found a movie on tv which at the time had a ton of dark colors and background images. The difference (and the flaw to some people, not me!), is that an LCD tv displays "black" as a dimmed out light. For lack of a better phrase, its not a lack of color, but attemtping to cover up color. LED Tvs have the ability to turn off those LED lights, making a much MUCH richer experience when showing dark backgrounds. Its very much more realistic. To put it another way, If you went walking out at night with a little light near you, you can see some objects, but more remain BLACK. This is what this LED TV does. It givea a Real Life feel to everything you watch.

I purchased this TV from amazon as they were much much cheaper then anywhere else - and at the time, I also received the free wall mount for this TV. Havent hung this TV so I dont have a review for the mount. I received confirmation emails as I was told I would. The Receiever of the TV, contacted me when they received the TV from the shipper. Once the TV was on a truck for delivery, the driver contacted me to set up a delivery time. They even called 30 minutes prior to delivery to ensure i was available. They walked the TV into my house, opened the box and had me verify there werent any visible flaws from shipping. Very professional.

I absolutely love this TV and would reccommend it to anyone!

Wow!

I bought a 52" Samsung LCD for downstairs earlier this year. In the meantime Samsung released the LED TV line. I had intended in getting the idential LCD in 46" for my family room but after reading about the new LED line thought I'd give it a try. Samsung just doesn't make a bad TV. It took me a couple of tries to get the picture adjusted how I wanted it (as opposed to the LCD which came pretty much right out of the box...and the baement is darker) but the pictures are neck and neck. I'd have to give the LED the edge but not by much. I got a GREAT deal on it from Amazon (as I did my other one). Crystal clear picture, swivel stand, 1" thick (amazing). I went from a Sony Trinitron that weighted like 500 pounds to this...technology is amazing!

This tv replaced a Sony which I thought has excellent color till I got this one. I would like to first say the purchase and delivery were very good by Amazon and we received the TV 2 days earlier than scheduled. I rate the television as an excellent buy for quality, looks, dollar, and performance. The colors are definitely striking. The setup of the television and the internet connection were very easy. The internet connection was to my wireless system via use of the wireless adapter which would have been nice to have included with the tv but as everyone does I purchased it separately. Of course the true test will be over time but I feel it will perform very well.

I wanted another LCD for my den. I already have a 52" Sharp Aquos and am very happy with it. However I did extensive research and even had my 23 old nephew help me with his 23 year old eyes. I could not see the slight differences in the different brands. So I took his word (eyes) for it.As I'm purchasing the Samsung 46" 120HZ, my wife says you know this will be obsolete as soon as you buy it. She' right and I stepped up to the 240HZ instead. What a TREMENDOUS purchase. The picture looks live and not like any TV I've ever seen. Step up and get the 800 series, you won't be disappointed
Closest to True 3d Experience

Reviewer: Vol Fan,
This Samsung LED is the best picture experience I have seen. I purchased via Amazon.com to replace a Pioneer Professional Plasma Display in my living room. The nice thing about the Samsung LED is it even makes HD movies on HBO, Showtime etc...appear to have depth [3d-like experience]. Even watching NFL the experience is impressive as there is a very smooth picture with incredible clarity--will be even better when more shows are broadcast in 1080p vs 1080i. I have a Samsung Blu-Ray player via HDMI connection and am even more amazed with the quality of the picture as it takes it to the "next level". The free shipping option was good and arrived within a week of purchase.

As far as connections go, I purchased two separate 25' HDMI cables via Amazon and can confirm the quality is true 1080p with no picture/signal loss and had an ethernet cable ran to the tv for the Yahoo widgets and DLNA access. I was a bit hesitant about purchasing the TV as it is mounted above my fireplace and received a quote from a home theater installer to "bury" the cables in the wall for over $600. After calling my licensed electrician who wired the house, the total was $130 to move an electric outlet, run two HDMI Cables and Ethernet cable plus an additional fee for drywall finishing/repair after he was finished. I also purchased the Samsung slim wall mount and the electrician recessed the outlet on the stud for a totally flush/seamless mount.

Overall, I am very pleased with the purchase.

I just discovered this thing plays Divx files from a USB stick (see page 53 of the instructions for a full list of supported video codecs). It plays them full screen and the quality is very impressive considering the video files I was playing were only 640 x 480. Somehow this TV is able to scale by a factor of 3 and still maintain a crisp image.

TV is very thin, uses little energy and is overall a terrific investment. Samsung makes the best TVs, or so I heard, until I bought this unit a few weeks ago. Now I know...it's true! Very pricey investment, but worth it in my opinion. This TV is just awesome. It hangs on the wall like a picture too. We use the stand because of earthquake issues of hanging a TV on the wall...love the blue light on the bottom of the TV. This is a fabulous investment! I paid $2100 from Best Buy during their Labor day sale....so look for deals, folks. Best Buy offered 3 years no interest, with a free calibration. Amazon price is good too.
